I hate to say it, because their a British studio (if American owned), but they've squandered their creative integrity in order to make as much money as they possibly can. The talent left Jagex years ago. Now their running on smoke and whispers from an older, better age.
Thus is the nature of greed. When you greedy, you get complacent. When you get complacent, you mistake having piles of cash for having the ability to deliver a good game. When you realise you can't deliver a good game, it's generally too late as you've already lost all credibility within the industry and can't capitalise on your cash pile by bringing in decent talent because the decent talent would rather start an indie studio where they can create what they want than work for a bloated cash cow that's built up a bad reputation over the years.
