    It's called block.

    It's also a public forum.

It also takes discipline to not unblock the person because you see them post in a thread you start.

It also tends to help to not rage on a forum, you only incite trolls to troll you when you do.  An example would be the thread you started before this one.

Simple, go post elsewhere. Create a new account. Do not create troll bait. Analyze your own behavior.

There's a Block link beside every post that is made. You will never be able to prevent someone posting on your thread. You can only prevent yourself from seeing what others post by blocking them. Everyone else will still see it. You might want to block me too.

I don't mean just blocking them, but stopping from posting on your threads at all.

I read threads on many topics and I've seen a number of people post opinions on a number of topics with which I fundamentally disagree. I restrain myself from "following them around" only for the sake of giving those people some breathing room, but no individual should live under this expectation. If someone says something, if you think it's wrong, if you can cohesively formulate how and why, you should communicate your sentiment. Else, what's the option? Free reign of strange people posting strange things all over like vandalism? The "lunatics running the asylum?".

You can be talking about cute things and still they will troll you.

May I suggest you create your own private forum then? You see, here you cannot prevent other people posting.

except your talking censorship, and that's a path that ends nowhere good.

If you really don't like the things certain people like to say, then Block is there for you, if however you want to silence others, then i think perhaps you need to take a step back and ask yourself what it is you really want and why.image

If you are unable to handle people on the internet saying things you dislike on a public forum, maybe you should seek out a private forum. People will troll you irl, treat them the same way, ignore.
I'm trying not to insult you for your apparant lack of maturity since it is the holidays, merry xmas.

Block doesn't seem to work well. I have several people blocked but when i log in i still see their posts.
Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it is bad.

If they disagreed it would be nice, but they don't.They don't care what your saying or how,but only how mach they don't like you.In the real world if someone is harassing there are laws to stop the harasser.

You know, I've communicated with "you" in two threads now. In the first, I referenced a third thread to which you contributed, but I did not post in that or any other, because you made mistakes. People make mistakes, it happens. What will not be tolerated, however, are accusations of stalking. Just don't do it. Your account has too little post count, your words have been too empty, and I have been too overtly kind to justify it.

Sit back, take a breath, come back when you feel better.

After reading the OP's first response in this thread I'm going to follow the last thing said by Iugal.

The OP is the guy who posted a fake link about Anet being in trouble. Then he made another post where he kept calling people assholes.

Wouldn't worry about him - permanent ban imminent.

only chaos without order is anarchy.

There is nothing wrong in disagreement and disliking, but attack someone because you don't like him is wrong and it should be stopped.

  • GruntyGrunty Member EpicPosts: 8,657
The OP has even had a moderator publicly say to take a less antagonistic approach to others here.  That NYC attitude isn't going to cut it across most of the land.

Getting butthurt on the internet and then complaining about it in a forum is never a smart thing to do.

No one knows you well enough to dislike you and attack you for it, yet. You're getting there quickly calling everyone assholes for disagreeing and making stalking accusations. Please, stop.

I can only imagine your talking about some other website, because the mods here do step in and ban people for set periods if they should make personal attacks.

I think what you need to seperate is, what constitutes a personal attack and what is an argument that runs counter to your own thinking etc. Thing about this website is that the people here have opinions and are prepared to defend them or promote them, on topics as numerous as grains of sand on a beach.

If you make a statement or argument in favour of something, and someone makes a statement that runs counter to your own idea of what is right, then that is a discussion, rather than harassment, and if there is one thing you will find here, is lots of discussions, i've probably been wrong more often than right in ones i've engaged in myself, its been an educational decade image

The best advice anyone can give you... don't post on forums... period.

Ever try to ignore gold spammers in an MMO... does it really ever change anything?  They just create new accounts over and over again... which is what happens on these forums on a daily basis.

I never blocked anyone so I'm curious, would you see their posts if another user quotes them?  If that is the case then doesn't it defeat the purpose?

Not only do you see the blocked person's posts if someone quotes them, but you still see all of the blocked person's original posts because the block function doesn't work correctly lol.
