Just out of curiosity, why do you care about what other people think about WoW? If you're enjoying playing it and having fun, then why get all worked up over some band of turds who like to flame WoW on the WoW forums? It doesn't matter what they think, as long as you like WoW.
And for the record, almost all of them aren't coming here to flame WoW simply because they dislike WoW. They come here to flame WoW because they know that they'll get a rise out of the WoW fans and start flame wars and be happy that all this attention is being given to them. This is the nature of the internet troll, little pricks who are neglected in life so they need to eliviate some of that loneliness by acting immature. The best thing you can do is ignore them and they'll probably go away.
i hate it becasue numerous farmers run rampant on every server clogging up decent hunting zones.
it doesnt help that it takes them 7 days to get to 60, too fast lvl gains, nothing to do when you are 60 unless your selling gold on ebay for boss man.
actualy i dont 'hate' it just got bored with it to an extent that i wont ever go back no matter what come in an expansion.
oh and honor system blows monkey chunks too.
You sound like a real control freak.
Do you really think you can stop people from posting opinions you don't want to read? (Rhetorical question).
You'll usually find that people get pissed off with opinions that conflict with their own when there's an unpalatable element of truth to them. Or in other words: if the people who diss WoW are so wrong, why are you getting your panties in a bunch?
Well... FOr my history of MMO's... I played EQ for 4 years or so. Loved the game. But ya know, you can only do so much you'll eventually grow tired of it and move on to other games. I juggled games like DAOC/AO/FFXI around and kept going back to EQ. After all it was my first.. and my favorite.
My friend got WoW and gave me the trial so I checked it out. I fell in love. This game was so much fun. Maybe it's the lack of friends or something that makes me grow tired of things but it didn't last. Levels 1-20 went by so fast I loved it. I must have grew too much to the fast leveling because My character, now at level 29 has been barely clinging to the game. It took me so many hours of grinding from 28-29 it makes me sick. It felt like i was leveling from 50-51 on EQ or something. Even FFXI seemed to be more fun and faster. I hit a wall with my character and i'm not having fun with him anymore.
I've been noticing things about WoW that I love, and that I hate.. (And this is mostly comparing to EQ/FFXI). I feel the items i'm using aren't really worth anything. Most of what i'm wearing i've found. WHich is cool, but its all randomized items. Something about that displeases me. Also - There's not enough grouping. I know there are instances going on but that's it for grouping. From what ive seen there is never any grouping going on beyond instances. Every class can solo just fine, which i feel was a big mistake to bring people together(What are MMO's for anyway? Community!).
I have a close friend playing EQ , he never left when I did. I may go back... I've played so much of the game though that it's hard to make a decision like this. *sigh* WoW is a great game.. They've done so many things right with the game, but just those small things, were the biggest things i enjoyed about other mmo's. And I just miss my home... *shrugs* I dunno.
What are your guys thoughts on all this jibberish?
Current MMO: WoW/GW2
One of the reasons I might quit WoW so far is that the community is a bit immature. While I agree this is not systematically the case, I find that it is proven right more often than not.
Example of immaturity: posting messages of 10 lines consisting of one sentence, with no punctuation, no line of thought, thus suggesting a lack of good will to communicate with fellow players.
Is that helpful, kernal?
Just out of curiosity, why can't you answer his question?
I dont like WoW becasue it just ended up to be like other MMOs I have played, it really doesnt catch my attention. I dont have any big reasons why, I cant say that there is bad content or bad graphics or any of that, its just not something that can keep me hooked to it.
I think the boring quests have something to do with it, I mean they just get boring and traveling gets boring too.
Bad commnunity too.
WoW kept me attached longer because I was trying to stay focused long enough to get my mount!!! And I did, I hit 40 and right after that I realized it was just gonna be the same thing as the first 40 levels, I honestly think I cancelled my account less than 24 hours after I got my horse.
hehe..first time through wow i did the same exact thing.
i had a priest, enchanter so i blew alot of money so i didnt actualy get my mount to 43, worked hard post 40 to get the cash. soloing must have got to me, werent very many above 40 at the time to play with. got it..rode aroudn ironforge and quit for a month(highest priest on alliance by 11 lvls at the time too)
i did go back and get a few 60's and got into the generic gameplay mostly becasue i ws with 5 good friends and some other cool people we met through the game but it coudnt last me any longer than it did
but i do still play a round of golf with the friends i met (www.shot-online.com)
It's the community for me as well, I can't stand it. I'm on an RP server and there's a guild with "fisting" in the title (hopefully not much longer, but that's sorta besides the point). I've played musical chairs with mmorpgs for nearly 5 years now and have only run into one community that was as bad, Lineage II's.
As for the game itself, I accept it's faults and try to enjoy it to the best of my ability. I just flat-out loathe the community.
I don't get it, are all the servers hosting the same world? or are the worlds different?
and anyone use a headset for WoW?
My build: Sapphire Radeon HD 4850, Asus P5GC-MX/1333 Motherboard, 4gb G.SKILL DDR2 667MHz RAM, Core 2 Duo e7200 CPU, 250gb Western Digital SATA Harddrive, Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit.
And don't worry haters, will provide you with a straight jacket (isn't that spelled right?) and ducktape for your mouth

And all servers are the same, the only difference is RP, PVP and PVE. RP only means your limited to what you can name your character =P
But most people are leaving WoW in general and complain about normal MMORPG Mechanics. The grind, the farming and the stupid people. Forced grouping for high end loot and limited soloing (which has gotten better since EQ -_-)
It's not WoW they hate, it's MMO's.
But like, who here uses a headset?
i don't want to get into that, you're ok without one right?

The vast majority of WoW players don't use a headset. For the most part it's really only the most hardcore of guilds and a few other that just happen to prefer it.
Actually...I played EQ, hated that one less than WoW. Than again, and this is why I hate it that much, I chose the wrong class.
I hate WoW because they kept nerfing and nerfing hunters, not doing anything about the bugs that already were plentyful. And when they did, the patch/update cause 2 bugs in return of the one they fixed. I hate WoW because the customer service sucks and because they crushed my hopes of a bugless fantasy mmorpg. I hate WoW because they promise things, and do not show these in their actions. In fact, they do not tell what all their actions are only to be discovered by the community, which does contain some mature players and then keep making apologies just to do it again.
hmmm, this feels very anti-santa. Instead of I like, I'm using, I hate
Anyway, I quit and if ever playing another mmorpg, it'll be either GW or I'm going back to Eve, that one rocked.
Preface: I played shaman in OB and loved it. Tried other classes but always came back to shaman.
My reasons:
1. Community - very immature. I tried changing servers but it's the same thing every where.
2. Meaningless PvP and I don't like how ranking was implemented. Also, might add faction inbalance.
3. Shaman nerfs. With every patch shaman got nerfed and alliance won't stop until the class is completely ruined. My fiance played warlock, don't think I need to add anything to that.
4. Bugs.
5. Missing content.
6. No in-game events. Scripted elemental envasion was pretty lame.
7. Farmers.
8. Teaming for quests is actually discouraged. Since I was teaming with my fiance most of the time, we were crawling through levels; xp was halfed from kills.
9. Lousy customer service.
10. Server stability and lag is a freaking joke there.
The list can go on btw, just 10 reasons of the top of my head.
