New Class Variants?

quix0tequix0te Member UncommonPosts: 138

I was just curious if the Devs had mentioned anything about developing any of the other class variants for rogues, wizards, or clerics?  Theoretically the game is based on 4E, and 4E had a LOT more options for each class than what NW has.  It would seem like a simple matter to add a another option for main attack, encounter power, and a couple more daily powers for each class, to give them more choices.  The limited options were one of the things that made me quit playing.

I was curious if they were trying any of the other 4E class options in the future.

I wish. This is the least D&D a game could be that is based in the Forgotten Realms.

Nope they are moving towards 5th ed so future classes will most likley be picked from 5th ed. You get some variation through the paragon paths but for all intents a Trickster rogue is the rogue we are stuck with.

The last word from the devs I heard was that mod 6 would have "2 HUGE things 4 big things 1 medium thing 1 totally strange and unexpected thing":

I think they will add a few more classes before we see any class get a third path. We still don't have paladins, bards, druids, monks, or any of the 4e specific classes. Also, I'd like to see some class variants added as distinct classes, battle cleric for instance.

Of course, with a "totally strange and unexpected" change in play, who knows.

At this time i am ready to offer a 1:st ed monster manual to get another healing class... Any healing class...

If we get another DPS class i will be very sad.

    Everybody loves the pew pew.

This is more or less what I figured, which surprises me a little because the 4E rulebooks HAND THEM class abilities and variants.  All they have to do is make the animations.  (Not that thats trivial but...)

Clerics, for example, can be tanky, and if they added weapon of divine protection, each attack would grant a brief AC buff to allies and/or singing strike grants target enemies a -2 to hit (same thing really)

And those are just at will powers.
