If you enjoy FanFiction that brings a universe to life, I highly recommend the "Adventures of Rooster and Zan" by Star Citizen "davidonSC". Very detailed, almost novel length already (PDF for full story), but segmented into easy to read bits if you read it on the forums. With interesting twists and moments for a smile. He clearly has put quite a bit of research into his description of systems, planets, ships and equipment.
