I am looking for an mmo right now to make up for lack of social life so i am interested in something like wow with endgame that can be tackled with a guild. I like everything about wow except for the combat system and the cartoon graphics.
I would just try some, but I don't have money to spend on subscriptions and games when I have no idea what I'm getting into.
I want a game with group endgame content, strong pvp, and exciting combat that doesn't rely on a billion skills and is more reactive to the game world rather than just following rotations.

You want a F2P game with a better world and better combat than wow and that's not cartoony?
Good luck with that.
You could try Wildstar, but its not for free, you could wayt however to see if it goes FTP..
Same goes for ESO, got the combat system, but no endgame, and its subbed, and not going FTP
or buy GW2, one time buy no subscription, ... But no progressive endgame either... Good combat system..
dcuo might be a good one, combo based weapon attacks, fun movement system and free to play, seems to fit most of your subscription, i think it still got a progressive endgame
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
I would of said Gw2 but since you said you want f2p try Tera. It has better graphics (although the style isn't for everyone) and has arguably the best action combat in any current mmo.

You can burn a lot of time in Rift. The Rift community is pretty solid and you can find a guild that will help you in your progression. Neverwinter is another good one if you wanna try out the action combat style game play, PvP is really good in that game if you are into 5v5 arena. Try them out, they are both completely free to play. Open world PvP is pretty good in ArcheAge if that's your type of thing. For a WoW clone, you can't get any better than Allods online.
I highly recommend Rift though and use this link Ascend-A-Friend to help you get started on your journey. you'll get some free loot to help you get started.
I consider most games similar to WoW in the past 10 years or so...
Most I quit early on. If I had to come up with 1 or 2 that held my interest the longest it would be Rift and ESO.
ESO I enjoyed more but after leveling the 1st character (through quests) you should realize how you could easily grind out the levels (at specific areas such as quests that help you kill...) very quickly (Lvl 1- Vr12 within 1 week or less) The end game fell apart for me because it was too easy... pick up groups ran it. I also really hated having more than 1 guild.
Although, some of the VR12 single group dungeons were tough.
I quit fairly early in the game so I do not know of any changes since the summer, but I could not get over the fact that the player crafted sets were so easy to obtain (crafting some yourself or hiring somebody- they were slightly expensive but there were means to make gold fast) The next best gear was the dungeon (group/raid) sets which I never did get but were minimally better than the player crafted sets that you could obtain within 2 weeks of a characters creation... (1 week to level- don't purchase anything just vendor or decon) and another week or so to farm mats and gold to hire somebody to craft for you (as it would take a couple of months to be able to learn all the sets).
Edit: Another thing that annoys me with all these games is PvP seems more as an alternative to having meaningful PvE End game. I have always felt PvP should tie into building a more well rounded character- they should tie together not separately.
Rift I enjoyed but I think I did way more PvP than anything else... even did PvP to get a lot of my levels... which is much slower but seemed more enjoyable until I had nothing left to do...
I would go for ESO. Fun combat/PvP. Good story, voice acting. Fun dungeons. Very customizable characer creation and classes.
Can try out rift free to get in, and free just to play even the endgame, so far for raiding seem good for people saying, dungeons can be hard or easy, pvp still need tons of work, still lacking balance but you can get away playing the game with out paying a dime, or a lot time if one play smart. and as for combat not the best in the world but is not the worst.
Can't think any other game with endgame and a open world, or with out dinging in to wallet when there no way can get it in game.
Other then sub mmo eso, or ff14 maybe wildstar if they ship up.
I was under that impression too when I quit. But that was 2-3 months into the release, so I am not sure of its current state.
If you want something with a gazillion skills like wow go for Rift, it's one of the closest things next to WoW. The graphics are kind of the opposite than WoW, but there aren't alot of level to go through compared to WoW's 100.
I've only tried Eso for a couple of days but this game isn't like WoW at all. It's kinda of more hardocre than WoW with the PvP. IN wow and Rift you can play the PvP casually and get all the gear in ESO your gonna have to commit alot more time for that. Also if you enjoyed skyrim chances are your gonna love ESO more. However I thought EsO was even more boring than Skyrim, and it's not really a good game to come alone to.
Lotro is similar to WoW but the PvP area is weak compared to WOW if you enjoyed that. THe good thing about Lotro is, that you get to visit all the areas from the book and it's quite an adventure the first tie althought quest system aint as good as WoW imo.
There is also SWOTOT which is WOW with light sabers but it do differs alot from wow with the questing. In WOW most people dont read quest logs but in SWOTOR it's all WoW act and you get to talk to the NPC's.
If old wont matter to you I would definately try EverQuest, although you gonna solo alot the first month, like wow i guess but people there are alway looking for members to expand their guilds any level. You can nearly keep building you cahracter stronger forever with the 10000 aa points to obtain.
I own gw2 but don't go there if you want something just as wow. IN gw2 you only have 10 skills at a time, there are no extra action bars and some of those a passives which takes up a slot, kinda lame eh? That just says everything bout the game.
Those are the game worth trying imo.
