As I was looking at the various highlights on the main page I did the ritualistic scroll down to see what I can win. It then just occurred to me that I can't remember the last time I was actually impressed or excited by what I saw down there. Why do I even scroll down there anymore? And then, *WHAM* it hit me. I DO remember!

 

Anyone remember the good old days when MMORPG.com was brand spanking new and they would have giveaways that would actually excite you AND you thought you had a chance to actually win it? I won cool stuff two different times.

 

The first (or was it second...) time I won an awesome blow up sword for Age of Conan, and possibly a copy of the game too. That thing was great! Until my cat bit it. But still! That was cool!

 

The next (or was it first...) time I won it was a pack of 3 mainstream games that were popular at the time. I can't remember what they were this was so long ago, but I remember feeling like I had won the state lottery or something.

 

I NEVER would win stuff and here I had two awesome things from this great website all within a relatively short amount of time. Ah yes... those were the good old days... 

 

This isn't a gripe, just me having one of those fun flashbacks from out of nowhere. So... Anyone else remember winning something cool from here? It could happen again some day. I'm sure all I'll ever win is 1 of 10,000 beta keys to some obscure Korean grind-fest but even so I think I'll keep my scroll to the contests ritual going for now just in case.

I recall those days.  I won something cool - a model ship from EvE a few years ago... .. actually I have no idea how many years ago it was.  I didn't even expect to win anything..and forgot I entered, and yet.. one day I came home with a package waiting for me and I still have that model today. (despite me not even really being an EvE player).

 

It kind of solidified the reasons why I come back... and while I don't always like what the front page has to offer, it doesn't stop me from checking.   

 

Oh.. I guess the information about mmo's is helpful too.....

I won a second copy of AOC, and then won it's expansion later, funny part about winning the copy of AOC, it went F2P not too terribly long after.

That's certainly one area that things have kind of gone downhill. 

The most obvious one for me is the community and the general feel of the forums.  Over the years, things literally get exponentially worse.   I wonder why that is.. Oh yeah!  I remember.

But here I am.  After finally writing off the last of the other scarce couple of competing sites after they (in the most obvious fashion possible) sold out, this is my last place for news and once in a great while, good discussions.

 

But, on the bright side of things, it's only gonna get worse!

Now i could care less, nothing to be that excited about. 

I still enjoy this website tho... just don't post much.
