I fucking love it. I haven't been this immersed in an MMO for a long time. There are some UI differences I need to get used to, but other than that it is a very fun game. I won't bother getting too much into what it is that makes it feel so immersed, as that is more of a must-be-experienced thing.

But I am curious. Why does this game get so much hate? Was it because of the launch, and that has stuck in people's heads? Am I doing something wrong, not seeing what it is that people don't like? Or is it just that I'm an anomaly and am one of the few people who actually like it?

If someone could explain just what it is that causes the hate from people who don't play, I'm very interested in knowing.

Because the F2P players player want to play it really bad, but they want it free

It's funny how now that the haters are back here hoping for bad news, all the ridiculous and dumbass reasons listed in the first few pages of this thread are being re-enacted for our enjoyment.

It's too bad they have nothing to play... but that's the haters lot in life: they do nothing but whine because they hate everything.

Now back to Cyrodiil I go....

Everyone of them are hoping it will go f2p so they can play it. They don't honestly hate the game, they are just jealous.

In typical fashion, everyone that is not praising ESO is labeled as haters who have "ridiculous" reasons for not loving ESO.  Obviously we are jealous we are not paying $15 month for this game and have nothing else to play.  We must all be jealous or broke because obviously the thought of not liking this game is,...well....ridiculous.  That has to be it.  Right?

I have said it before and I will say it again.  If you guys want hugs and kumbayas sung about ESO then I recommend you stick to the official forums to where only the people who are not jealous, ridiculous, and love paying a monthly sub for the game can post.  Oh but wait,..apparently there are several threads there discussing f2p as well.  And those threads are being posted by non-jealous, non-ridiculous, non-hating paying customers.  Unless the mods are cleaning those posts up for you guys so you can have a nice place to visit and post again.

A: Because of the vocal minority that is composed by its fanboys. This is accentuated by the fact that the game has disappointed most Elder Scrolls fans that believe that ESO is a violation to all that the franchise stands for. It creates a feeling that the franchise has been "cheapened", "dumbed down" or "violated", causing many oldschool true RPG lovers to disdain ESO for having sold its ideals and the good name of the Elder Scrolls in the name of a dollar sign.

At this point it is very clear that the vocal minority are the haters, like you.  Your trolling is bad and you should feel bad.

Naturally, anyone that has an opinion that does not perfectly match yours is automatically a troll.

And then you wonder why ESO fanboys get so much hate.

My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.

LOL it always comes down to the few that try and in this day and age are succeeding, spoiling it all for the majority. I could bring up outside facts but why bother the whole idea is to get away from that stuff by going into our favorite games or game sites. I do believe the reason there is so much vocal hate for this game is there are so many that has been brought in by the success of WoW and are tired of paying a monthly fee and or their parents won't buy it for them.

Either way one day these people will find out that games like WoW, ESO and a few others are the only way to go, is with a monthly sub. F2P will always cost you more in the long run if you do love the game and want to advance. Sure there will be people that say OH I got to high level with out paying a dime. But in reality never really see the game the developers meant for them to see and play.

SWTOR has a good F2P setup at least for me, if you pay the sub you never have to go in and check the store for something you may need, it is all there in game for you.

LOTRO has one of the worse F2P setups. Even if you sub and love the game they are attempting to force you to use the store to advance the character a little faster in reputation and so forth.

I could go on but the industry is being ruined by the few loud mouth's that want what ever they can get for free.

I'm not perfect but I'm always myself!

Actually Lotro is the best F2P model ever. You sub you get points, you play you can earn points. You can buy everything for points including expansions and maps. If you sub one time you keep everything you get as a subscriber.

You dont need to buy anything in that game to be better, and if you feel forced to buy things to level faster then you dont get that game at all anyway. Reputation scrolls can also be earned with in game shard. So once again you dont have to pay real money for anything.

I am a lifetime sub holder. I dont play a lot and the game has gone down hill in a major way the past few years but the one thing you cant say about Turbine is how they set up the free to play model they have.

Even though I do not like LoTRO's willingness to put quests behind paywalls, you do bring up a good point.  Giving people points for getting the in game achievements was a great idea.  If you do the math it amounts to some paltry amount of points they are giving away vs the time you spend finishing the achievements, but I was actually enjoying doing achievements in that game vs others.  That little extra incentive was really nice.
