Very nice job with the screenshots :)

I am not sure I would say "unparalleled" but ESO is indeed a pretty game.

Yup, ESO is a beautiful game.

I will be honest, those SS's look very good, the game looks great but so does FFXIV and i am not playing that game either.

Yes i enjoy nice graphics but it still comes down to the game design and how important a game makes each level feel. The problem iwth every single game since Wow is they all make levels feels like a waste of time, that is why 99% of the community is always talking about end game or Raids.

I Do NOT want to repeat grind at end game just to warrant coming back,i want to fully enjoy my character at EACH level AND in a MMO environment NOT a SOLO environment.

IMO and i am not saying this about TESO in particular but ALL games,if the developer cannot give me a warranted game throughout the game, they are amateur hour developers and i won't be playing that game.Linear questing is right off my list and soloing is off my list,if a developer can't pull together a TRUE MMO and RPG,they are not  a AAA developer.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Wrong thread. This one is about some pretty visuals, not how dead the genre is because of WoW.

Those are amazing screenshots, I can't get my welfare rig to make it look that good, but at those settings yeah they blow AoC out of the water (sorry, i played that too and I can understand the nostalgia that game was amazing looking for its time but it is definitely outdated and you should definitely GET OVER IT)

And it's ok OP, I know you were using unparalleled as an adjective and not some challenge to other gamers' graphical preferences, assuming that would be straight up freaking moronic.

The following random screenshots are from Age of Conan, an MMO that was released 7 years ago.

After putting in lots of time with AoC at launch, I am sure you can appriciate some people not being totally blown away by a game that is marginally better looking than a 7 year old MMO in some parts, and absolulety worse looking in others (Charecter models and animations, for example).

AoC was absolutely gorgeous, and had the soundtrack to match. I loved the game personally, may boot it back up even.

All the credit goes to user Fizzonance on the ESO forums :)

    Blackheart Haven, Iliac Bay

    Firsthold Road, Auridon

I like those two the best. Thanks for sharing.

AoC was beautiful when it was released but it doesn't compare to the unparalleled beauty of ESO.

It does compare quite well to FFXIV;ARR, both games are among the best of the current AAA MMO's in terms of Aesthetics and the overall quality of the graphics.

ESO's main problem, has, and remains its gameplay,  they continue to work on it so its not all bad, its just not there yet is all, while for me the magic combat in the game is a deal breaker, others are content enough with it, but if they continue to work on the grouping issues the game has, then eventually the game will probably be less of a disappointment.image

Yeah its beautiful, one of the best looking mmos released so far. It has a great art style and atmosphere as well.

Yes, AOC graphics is dated. What is your point?

The point was that the game was made 7 years ago, yes they are dated, but, i think it just highlights how little graphics have progressed since then, yes they have improved, but not as much as you would have expected given the time frame, and there is still  a fair amount of disparity between the graphics achievable in single player games, than Multiplayer games and MMO'simage

Wow, if you cant see the similarity between the sets of SS than I don't know what to tell you.  I guess continue getting butt hurt over someone disagreeing with you but both set of screen shots look pretty damn similar to me.  I would agree that ESO still beats out AOC graphics wise but not by a ton.  Sorry if you butt is going to be sore all day from this cause obviously your not alone.

Not all people can have the absolute pitch or very good taste but I guess there is little reason to be ignorant and obtuse to argue with them.

Because you can't tell the difference does not mean there is none, not all share your limitations.

In still captures you can see ESO is quite better. It's pretty obvious really as it's like HD versus regular TV. You can see how much sharper it is.

Then you actually play both...and you can really see how way better it is. They've definitely improved a lot. Most of it is lighting and shadows because when you have hi-res textures...well your textures are good and you can't really get much better. That's the easy part. AoC just needs slightly higher res textures and then a better lighting/shadow engine. I think Skyrims textures are even lower res than ESO, Skyrim just has more "separate pieces" that make up a full model with better animations...sometimes. ESO's are more or less painted on, which saves computer power.

This blind kind of hatred is somewhat familiar..

Like when my gf is on her period.

And the lack of excuses for it seems only to increase it.   Interesting..  'takes note'

Did you literally call that "blind hatred"?

...there are no words for you my friend...

All the guy did was post a couple of screenshots from ESO.

    That was his crime.

He did not compare anything. All he said was.. "Hey guys. Check out some pretty pics".

    Possible responces :

    a) How nice! Excellent even.

    b) Meh, seen better. Not my thing really.

    c) 'insert MMO name here' is better. ESO sucks. 'throws rock'

Doodphace's first post was a combination of your a) and b).  No where did he say ESO sucks.  This just shows that (what a lot of us already knew) that a lot of ESO fans can be hyper-sensitive and take personal ANYTHING said towards ESO that is just shy of praising the game.  The OP said ESO's graphics are "unparalleled" and Doodphace disagreed and provided examples as to why.

If you state a glass of water is half full, do you go ballistic and assume someone hates you or the glass of water if they disagree and say it's half empty?

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I played AoC for more than 2 years and enjoyed it.

I was asked by a friend how good it looked and so I made a video just for him.

With the current topic of this thread and the comparison of ESO to AOC, I decided to make a similar video for ESO.

My character is pale because he is a vampire. I am fighting lower level mobs because the video is only for the sights and sounds. Neither video is full of epic fights. Just normal stuff to give the viewer an idea of how the game looks and sounds.

First is my AoC video I did 4 years ago

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Crxv1LIbwUU

Next is the ESO video I threw together today.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7TP0g_GG2w

    Both are available in 1080p

More videos I have done are here = https://www.youtube.com/user/GHOThorn

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

    Just my 2 cents.

Those are beautiful screenshots, I think that is where ESO lost me though, and hear me out on this.

The game world they made drew me in with the sheer quality of the visuals, it offered me sweeping horizons, distant ruins towers and all just waiting for me to go and explore them... and then it railed me in like no other mmo before it.  At the point where I zoned in and before I even started the zone I knew the path it wanted me to take through it, I gave up.

I keep looking at the amazing screenshots and videos and wanting to give it a second chance, and maybe one day I will but for now I will settle through exploring it through other peoples eyes, thank you for reposting this persons screenshots, they are nice.

AoC was ahead of it's time back then, as is ESO ahead of it's time now. Thanks for the vids. The progression is evident.
