Actually the most sense is that if someone or a business is hush hush it ALWAYS means two things, they have something to hide and likely means not doing as good as their investors and they promised the investors it would do.Remember a few years back they were talking about a 200-300 million dollar investment into their business for game development, most of which was for this game. That means someone else's money NOT theirs. That announcement was sort of bragging imo and yet they were willing to put it out in the public so not like they are all hush hush or something.
Also what a lot if not all of these businesses do is allocate profits and losses into different quarters,so nothing is fully accurate.
If i was just assuming/guessing ,i would say they manipulated the books to read a decent profit up front to keep everyone happy. At the same time knowing it is not doing as well as expected they are planning f2p just trying to find the right time and likely the response and ok from the investors.
Do you actually think that any sub-based MMO that sells boxes or digital downloads of the game and that, like all MMOs, experiences something less than 100% retention needs to "cook the books" to show decent sales up front?

I'm sick of "NO F2P IDIOTS! F2P IS CRAP!" so please, explain me this sentence: "F2P crap is full of microtransaction. I'll leave that game after transformation". The hell, you like this game but you'll leave after changes you don't like? It's not changes to content or game, it's only about money. You'll leave because you don't like freemium game? That's illogical. "Freemium" or "f2P" is always free from restrictions for people who pay sub. If you paid sub before transformation, why don't you pay sub after?
I think it's more about butthurt: "Hey! I paid for that and now you get this for free! That's not fair!". Why? Because player who paid for game before transformation often gets some crappy, useless points.
I paid for TSW, I paid for Aion, I paid for Rift and I was unhappy from transformation only with Aion because this game went to crappy Gameforge. I didn't care about that because I would pay anyway.
Why are some of u guys so hard on about seeing a game that most likely you are not playing fail?
Is this another of the "misery loves company" thing going on?
Why do you think that people cheering for F2P or B2P business model want the game to fail.
Personally, I would like to see change of business model (preferably B2P with DLC packs) since: a) I would buy the game then and play when I want ,without pressure of monthly sub and b) believe many others feel the same, which would result in more players playing, more income for developers and more success for the game itself.

I don't think a company sees turning something more profitable as a failure. Turning something into being even more profitable is usually considered a success. They will convert it IF it already is a failure. If f2p/b2p conversion brings in more players and more money, then guess what.... they are going to do it. For every person that threatens or actually leaves the game becuase of a business model change to f2p, I'm willing to bet that there will be hundreds to take their place. Does it suck for the p2p or bust crowd? Sure, but the influx of more cash won't suck for ZOS. They are a business, not a charity and whether you or anyone else likes it or not, f2p (not my favorite either) has proven time and again to be more profitable. Even Superdata (lol), you know the one internet market data site that stated ESO had @775K subscribers, also show in their reports that f2p makes more money hand over fist compared to subscription. What company wouldn't want to make more money?
I'm not someone wanting a game to change business models nor am I a f2p fan either. I will gladly play and pay for any game that I feel is worth it. I also don't see a game converting from sub to f2p as failure either, though that seems to be the prevalent idea on these forums and makes sense as to why people on these forums get so irate about it becuase they don't want to hear "I told you so" by those of us who have been saying for a while now that the game, currently, isn't worth a sub. At least to us.
