I have never seen a Second Life member be friendly to a Therian. Never! They say we don't respect them enough but they dare do all of the above? To me they are sick and freaks! There is no doubt in my mind one day someone from Second Life is going to go to jail for making the wrong comment to the wrong person. It is so sad that they would say and do what they do. It is simply sad that we have to share the internet with these freaks. With these creeps.

You refer to yourself as a 'Therian'. Doesn't that make you feel just a little bit silly?

I also agree that you shouldn't stereotype all members of a given community based on the actions of a few individuals. It's just a game, buddy. Breathe.

I'll breath when i'm not judged because of the game I play. I'll breath when I don't see people getting threats against their life from Second Life members. I'll breath when I don't see posters and shirts of Avatars getting slottered. Thats when i'll breath!

    1] You're stereo-typing.

2] The way you talk makes you sound like your in a cult ... yes ... i have come to a conclusion that There is a cult.

There seem like a great game.  Not a game for me, but a great game.

If they would try to say soloer mindless PvE killers would be happy in their world, while it is not the case, I would bash it, but I see no reason for bashing a game that is honest and seem to be pretty well design about it focus of gameplay.

I can only bow to There...and throw pudding in the general direction of SoE office!  image

I'm not sure if its been said before, only read pages 1 and 4, so forgive me if im running over an old point. The game is 4.95 per year, but thats just to log on, to achieve anything in the game requires real life money from credit card to buy all the items in the game, everything from clothes to makeup to buggys to paintguns, even the paintballs all cost real life money. I've played it and its okay, but just prepare to be using your credit card unless you just borrow everything from other players (which can be retrieved at anytime by the owner) or looking like a clone of the thousands of other newbies.

Didnt you just compare everyone who played second life to sick and you even said you hated them. And yet you dont want people to judge you from the game you play? Do you know what the word hypocrite means?

different people have different tastes. People love WoW, people hate it. Some people like 3d chat, others dont. For some odd reason, I like it. Just the ability to walk in a made up character, able to talk to people...really, talking is the only objective is attractive to me (for some reason). I wouldnt worry about them Joel, they are more into gameplay than just simply 'meeting people.'

Was Second Life the game where it required DSL or a higher connection...or was that There?

  • Lunchbox76Lunchbox76 Member Posts: 294

Actually I was able to play second life on a 56kb so to say it required more is completely false. Plus i enjoy being able to create my own content from scripts, to cloths, to models, and oh ya mini games and such. Thats why I enjoyed Second Life it was more then a 3D chat. It enabled creative people to share there ideas and creations in a virual world, and no i dont play it know due to the fact that i just dont have the time to play it anymore, but what time i did have with it was very rewarding.

So think of it what you will. Your comments alone casts a bad shadow on There

    Playing Fallen Earth.

Wow! - something is happening on these forums the guy didn't get flamed until the 4th page and if ever I've seen a case for flaming it's this, "There" nutter!

"There" has been backed by a load of venture capitalists and corporates to the tune of.......wait for it..........37 Million US Dollars! And all they could put out with all that money to invest is some weak virtual teenager world. When you look at some of the indie MMO developers struggling to find investment it makes ya wanna cry. ::::16::

Second Life, There & Habbo Hotel are the 'crazy frogs' of the mmo genre they belong to kids they are not for gamers - go away - I pap on your game and your avatar - loser. ;)

Ok there was a post about Second Lifes creative tools and what you could do. Ok in the past 3 months members of There have been taking on some big projects. ThereOrleans was nearly done but people stopped funding this great creation. It had to shut down.

I myself am working with a top There designer to bring Atlantis in world. This project alone could cost nearly 1,000,000 Tbux. Thats almost 300 US Dollors! But thats just submission costs and we still need to pay to keep it up all year round. This project might be the biggest There has ever seen.

So There is not all about chat, but in the end about making your ideal dreams come true. Weather it is to sky dive, see Paris, or fly a plane it is able to be done. I don't think you have the freedom in WoW or even in Quake that you have in There.

i would like to know, and think it a public service for you to tell us:

were you insane before you started playing or does the game do that to you?

    Not even QUAKE?!?!

Anyways, i'm not flaming the game. I'd really like to play an online game where you can do anything you want. But they REALLY need to change the trial longer than 3 days. Some people's trials would be over before they even logged into the world.

We have put up with it since your beta days. Freaks! That is what Second Life members are. Freaks!

"Therians"? Umm, someone please tell me this post is a joke?

  • RubycatRubycat Member Posts: 223

I was in the There beta..

the whole reason the fee is so low and annual is because to get anywhere you have to spend real world cash
    -----------

ill pay monthly fees, but i wont spend money upright in a game to get cash in teh game or items

  • Joel1120Joel1120 Member Posts: 624

Yep i'm insane! I'm insane because i'd rather not play gory games that are all about shooting people up. I'm crazy cause I perfer not to do that! I'm crazy because I want to get away from my life and have some place else to goto...

Ya know in There I have a Japanese home by the sea and where it is there is always a sunset. Its so peacful there just sitting and looking out at the sea. No other game has a feeling like There. The community is so nice and your surrounded by a calm feeling.

Its so exciting when I find something new or when I find a newly built home. I just look and think about all the hard work which went into that creation. Then I think its people like that who bring these things in world who make There what it is today.

No its not a joke. People who play There are called Therians and people who play Second Life are called Lifers. I don't get how that could be taken as a joke...

Ok.. uhh... have you ever sat by the sea and watched the sun set? No, not the one that's inside that little box you call a monitor. Stop for a second and take your hands off the keyboard... move them up to where they are between you and the monitor. Now, move them closer to your head, There you go. Now slide them along the sides of your head and grab those handles. Those are called EARS. Now, twist that head around and you are looking for another "box" in that room of yours. It looks almost like There, but it has WAY better graphics. Approach that box. Now, examine it closely, there may be some switches on the top you may have to turn, but then grab the frame of the box and lift up. I know, I know.. Yes, this is a game where you can remove the glass screen and climb INTO the game. It's next generation technology. Now, go out in this game world and explore. It has sun sets, sun rises and boasts the largest population of any game in the whole wide... ummm... yea. Oh, and there's rules against PvP in most zone's, so don't worry about that.

I think you'll find this new game FAR better than There ever could possibly be.
