Hello there!
Like many others, I'm currently struggling to find a new MMORPG to waste copious amounts of time on, hopefully I can get some good suggestions from this community based on the following criteria:
Preferences: Heavy PVP emphasis with arena content a major plus. In my experiences, incredibly large scale PVP has been a serious let down and zerg fest. PVE is great, and I will participate, but it's always an afterthought. Instanced PVE is a must, I've never been a huge fan of camping a boss for hours only to have it tagged by someone else. Graphics aren't an issue, pretty textures alone have never done a great job at keeping me interested. Medium-Large population preferred and I don't intend on leveling a character for longer than three-four weeks to actually reach any content. Therefore, no thanks Korean games.
Experience: World of Warcraft (BC-Present), Rift (Two maxed PVE/PVP characters in vanilla/SL), Guild Wars 2 (Only made it to level 40, after reading reviews I found that it lacked end-game progression and PVP progression), The Secret World (I tried, I promise, just couldn't get into it), TERA (Was alright, couldn't find any current friends or in-game communities to get as involved as I was, too much melee class redundancy, made it to Level 46), Aion (No, please), Neverwinter (I'm willing to pay some money, but cash shop prices are outrageous. Non-role specific dungeons in a game where dungeons NEED healers and tanks and PVE gear being better than PVP gear for PVP was a turn off), and FFXI (The struggle was real with this one, never progressed past level 30 due to majorly time consuming attunement quests with little to no direction)
I'm completely willing to revisit any of the aforementioned games so long as I see the issues mentioned as being resolved and/or new and engaging content has been released. I'm currently studying reviews for ESO, LotRO, FFXIV, and SW:TOR. I'm skeptical about ESO due to massive amounts of negative reviews and not being able to try it prior to dropping $60. Also skeptical about LotRO due to quest packs and (to my knowledge) lack of PVP. Before it's suggested, I like MOBAs and currently play Heroes. Not incredibly interested in individual game based progression with resets each game.
If you suggest a game after reading the preceding wall of text, I can assure you that I'll express an immense amount of love and gratitude, welcomed or not.
