To much fluff just like my Guild Wars 2. Can't stand that about GW2.
The fluff just gets in the way. Enough with the flashy lights and giant kabooms for crying out loud. Would love a game where I can actually see what I'm doing in Large Scale PvP
It's why I have a hard time with Asian MMOs. I find that extremely annoying too.

This is what large scale PvP looks like in every game that has it...
It just so happens that BD didn't care to make some sassy "scripted" video, e.g., Age of Conan, ArcheAge, SWTOR, etc.
All large scale PvP looks stupid when it's not scripted / edited for video.
Agreed. This is how every large scale pvp battle looks, when there's no organization. The video editing is really bad though.
These were my exact thoughts. Both posters. I think they could have prevented it in a better way. Even if they didn't script it, the actual editing seemed pretty bad. I will wait and see on this one. I like to see a players perspective. At least they didn't try to over dress it. . but they could have put on a shirt
Actual player POV looks a tad different. Good or bad, depends on the individual obviously.
Thanks for the links. Looks like it wont be for me. I will check it out though if I get a chance. At first I thought what kind of garbage music is that. . . then I listened to the lyrics. . good stuff Sooo many keyboard killers
That video looked pretty good to me. What I didn't care very much for was the combat animation didn't match the realistic looking environment. I know that sounds picky, but the characters had a GW2 look to them, and the surroundings looked slightly like ESO. But all in all, it looked pretty interesting!
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
This is the most BDO has ever looked like an mmorpg before to me. It's got all the crazy frame rate, paragraphs of text over player heads, attacking inanimate objects and disorganized zeging that you want from an mmo.
I read through the comments first before seeing the video, seeing a lot of people down the video with claims of it looking stupid and that games like Shadowbane and Warhammer Online did it better. I know there are quite a few people on this site that down this game simply because it's Korean. So, I believe a lot of opinion from the other commenters is based on bias, with that said,
I watched the video and as someone who has participated in mass PVP in Shadowbane, was in one of the top Order guilds in Warhammer online and in Aion was an officer for the top Asmodian guild on the server, I have to say, yeah, this is what mass PVP looks like. Whoever said that swords and arrows on walls was "lol" obviously never played WAR. What do you think took out the doors to the keeps? A mass number of bodies with healers keeping them alive from the oil being dropped on them. People didn't bother with siege weapons when attacking keeps because the 100+ people were faster.
I definitely see bias or ignorance from the comments of this video. Donno if it's just people hating on the game for being a "flashy" korean game or people who never really played mass pvp games expecting it to be nice looking when it's not. It takes a lot of work to coordinate a large number of people and it takes even more work for them to do it right. Looking good isn't the point, it's winning the day and taking the points.
Still not a fan of the art direction in this game. You've got this super realistic landscape which is beautiful. You've got highly animated, unrealistic combat and particle effects. Placing both in the same world is jarring.
Why would I go with that? I don't think that has a block button either. Now if that turns out to have gameplay like Wushu, with laws, player made alliances, with territory control, in a civil FFA world. I may give it a look. Not having a block button really hurts it's combat though. It would be very hard to get past.
Originally posted by Dullahan If any old weapon can damage structures, thats bad. Without weapons like sledge hammers and proper siege weapons that gameplay will suck. The whole challenge of breaching and taking other players keeps and castles should be the transportation of said weaponry to destroy the enemies castles.
I do not think you would want equal defensive capabilities...

I go forward, not backwards

Exactly.
