Lets not kid ourselves. having 50 buttons on the UI with only 10 being useful is also not pleasant.
Sure. But there is serious problem with game that have 50 abilities (or immagine TSW with zillion of them) and only 10 usable. Besides ... are you forced to use them all? Nope, you can stick with single button if you wish. So removing limit to toolbars is win-win situation.
And I think it works rather well in Wildstar because you have to think about what abilities you want to bring, and it can change your play style drastically.
Has nothing to do with think. I like to help others and like to play hybrid classes. But for leveling I might setup pure dps build. Then i see player in trouble and would like to throw some healing spell to save him in last instant ... nope. I can't.
Actually having i.e. 15 to 20 spells and knowing when and where to use any or some of them is something that requires skill, let you think. No thinking with few buttons.
Also any good game has many occassional spells wich some have no problem to use at precise time. Of course, if on toolbar.

Like my raid for example, we have 3 or 4 dps medics depending upon the night, and we each have a different build, and each are competitive in damage.
How many games can make that type of claim?
For those not in tune to what is going on, Drop 4 is heavy on teaching the solo player the mechanics of the game, and getting the early levels more involved with group content, as well as proper itemization on gear. Amongst a massive list of bug fixes which are working on the PTR.
The community is making a heavy plea for Carbine to make Drop 5 focused on fixing all things PvP. itemization in drop 4 will help with the gear, but there are a whole host of other things that make PvP silly. I hope that they do this because with Drop 4 and a PvP centric Drop 5, the game should have what it needs to please everybody that doesn't hate the art style, and combat style.
It's still got the story that has hooked me in like no game before it. Very underrated aspect of Wildstar.
I completely agree, the story and the humor are what interest me the most. I would play avidly, but don't have the time to make a monthly sub worth it. I bought it initially and really enjoyed the first month, but didn't get past 35, I believe. If some of my time frees up again, and I get a bit more income I'd love to jump back in.
