There is history on all sides....yes. Our history on Earth does also. So based on history, then making three factions from it, you come to the same conclusion about the human race.

What does any of that have to do with Fractions???
Your thread title being "How come all fractions are Tyrannical" My guess is because the Fractions not being a whole feel they have to make up for being only a FRACTION of something, and are over compensating. Or are you looking for a more mathematically correct answer to the question?

Not sure if you are trolling or not....
The OP OBVIOUSLY mean "factions"......not "fractions".
Anyone that knows the game....knows this.
So...lets stop trolling the misspelling please?

Yeah sorry for the mis spelling of the word. I think we got some good points out, to why they put tyrannical dictatorships for all factions leadership. Good stuff, and thanks for taking the time to post. I posted it because, when i play, it makes me feel like i dont belong to any of the factions, and its hard to role play my character. I havent played much passed 10 on all sides, but all of them seem tyrannical to me, and the people should over throw them.
The OP indeed needs to pick up a history book or 2.
Even today in our "enlightened" world only 40% of the world is considered "free" and this number is dropping. Keeping a narrow 1st world view of democracy and freedom is a position of ignorance against the tides of history.

My advice - turn off the analytical part of your brain when playing online games - because NONE of it makes sense (why would a NPC ask 1000 different players to find and return the same sword after the previous 1000 players have already found it and returned it?)
This is so true. I once tried to explain the workings of an MMO to a friend at work who only had a background in Nintendo and Playstation gaming. I completely lost him on the concept that I would kill a monster and a few seconds later it would reappear to be killed by the next guy or even by me again. The more I tried to explain the dumber he thought it sounded.
That's why the Theme Park analogy is really the only one that works. You ride the ride, play act at fighting and then get off the ride. Endless customers ride endless rides round and round. I think people resist the theme park label because they want to believe their game is somehow more serious than it really is.

Mobs re-spawn in nearly every single sandbox mmo ever made as well. That is a not an argument for a themepark game.

I'm fairly sure he has bigger issues than that, since I'm not quite convinced he really knows what "tyranny" means.
Wit the exception of House Dres' slaves, each faction's people seem to be getting treated fairly by their rulers, and not oppressed like they would be under an actual tyrannical regime.

I also agree with this, I'm not seeing which one is a tyrant. Perhaps the op would like to clarify and give examples of each ruler actually being a tyrant?

Out of all the comments, up to yours i havent felt a need to respond, but yours really takes the cake. Saying that its not tyranny when one over lord makes the only choice as to what happens. All 3 factions are controlled by one person, yet you seem to think its not tyranny, because some of the people are treated alright........

Well high king Eric, seems ok to let all the poor people get eaten by werewolves, because they are poor, while thinking he is some super god that cant be hurt. In a conspiracy that ends up with him being almost killed, by people hiding in barrels. The queen of the high elves isnt much better, she seems to think because she is well traveled, that she can do and say anything she wants, while contemplating on how to enslave all the younger races, because they are to stupid to govern them selves.
As i said i havent got to far into the last faction, with the nords, dark elves, and the lizard men, but its prolly the same story. Any time one person controls everything its a bad thing.

unless you are an elve (than you have a "king" or "queen" like overelve thingie) or a dwarf (then you just follow to big beer mug), that is how medival "law systems" work.

after some years of decadence and gluttony tho, this usualy changes and a king/imperator/bigbadawompa dies

Umm - the moment you start to think critically about MMO games - they all fall apart within seconds.
My advice - turn off the analytical part of your brain when playing online games - because NONE of it makes sense (why would a NPC ask 1000 different players to find and return the same sword after the previous 1000 players have already found it and returned it?)
Again - just don't go there, the fundamental flaw in design of many MMOs is that they put thousands of players together in the same world - and yet each player is treated as if they are the ONLY ones interacting with the game.

Likely because it's one of the most common forms of government in human history, and almost exclusively in fantasy lore.

King Emeric is a penny-pinching coward with hardly any decision-making skills.
King Joruun is a dunder-headed moron whose only answer to everything is fighting.
Queen Ayrenn is a naive child who is hiding behind good PR to insitigate enslavement of all non-Altmer.
And monarchy =/= dictatorship.
That being said the EP is not a monarchy because Joruun is just a puppet for Almalexia and the others in the Tribunal.
LOL yeah if they renamed it Grand Champion or something it would make WAY more sense IMO.
