I am interested in buying only if the content rivals that of GW1's first expansion

GW1 only had one traditional expansion, which was Eye of the North, and it came with substantially less content than the core game and the two follow-up campaign games offered.

The two campaign releases that came between the launch of the core game and the EotM expansion, were Factions and Nightfall, where were stand-alone games of their own and didn't require the other games in order to be played. These two campaigns offered about the same amount of content that the original game offered.

I do not think we will see the GW1 campaign scale of content quantity for HoT, given the higher production costs for GW2 content. But who knows, they might have been working on this for a long time. Remember, the setting we're going to see in HoT was originally the destination for the cancelled third GW1 campaign... They have had the concept of this region in place for years, and it is also when they decided to make GW2 instead.

Pretty much this.  It's not going to be an expansion like WoW or Rift, or how any other MMO  does them. Everyone should just keep their expectations low, or they are going to be sorely disappointed for hyping themselves up.  The title is misleading too, and borders on click-baiting.

Well since this is just another rumor article I will wait until I hear official word from ArenaNet.

It's ironic that if this were a forum thread, it would probably end up being locked for speculation and trolling.  At the very least, the title would have been changed.

"An Expansion, Finally!"  is really misleading.  There hasn't been an announcement.  Wildly guessing based on..what?  Hype and a title?

Dollars to donuts it's just a grande presentation of their Living Story year 3.

Based on their statement of revolutionizing how MMO's grow, I'm inclined to agree. They have shown very little indication to actually do anything standard or meet market expectations. I'm expecting some dance around an expansion coupled with more marketing BS.

    I`d like to get:

Scaled dungeons: 1 to X players. It will stop almost robot players saying: "LGM Only pros" "Fast Paths" and this kind of mechanical raids. I want to have fun in dungeons even I have to play solo.

Bosses with real drops, not that bullshit you could get everywhere.

Real chances to drop good things. Playing since day 1 I could not get anything good.

    Less garbage droping.

Improved crafting. There is no point to craft anything.

Rebalance servers. Our server is massacred by huge zergs everytime in WVW.

Rebalance pvp: there are players that kill others using 1 or 2 hits. Ok if they were glass canon, but you use all your skills and merely take some health of them.

Not very important to me but:

New classes, new skills, new races, new maps, new quests, new achievements, rebalance pvp, new pets for rangers, A downloadable guide for people who buy the expansion.

Hope it's announcement of a new MMO, Gw1 style set up like gw1 but moba style arena!! Who am I kidding...
  • exile01exile01 Member RarePosts: 1,089

Arenanet- you fooled me once you wont wont fool me twice.

It doesnt matter if they add new classes, new races

It doesnt matter if they add new quests

It doesnt matter if they add new dungeons

The problem is in the core. IF they add more of that above- it wont change the game either how boring and disgusting the concept is.

"Everything you do, feels pointless in that game" THats the feeling i always got playing it. Thats why i stopped after  1 month and never looked back.

They can add as much content as they want- if i still have to chose of this shitty skillsystem -shitty stat system-shitty pvp, then i give a damn about this game.

the point of video games is to have some fun with friends

does gw2 offer this? hell yes

    its not a job

I already own this game. Made preorder. Got strongly disappointed.

The main reason I purchased this game is because there was a Necromancer class. But the Necromancer in this game is plainly dull and badly done. You expect tu summon undead and instead you get a flying thing, dogs, a floating spectral eye and a scorpion-looking thing.

The problem is not only with the bad Necromancer planning, the problem is in the core of the game. The character progression system is the real problem here. The world, the landscapes, everything is nice. But the character progression system is plainly retarded. At level 30 you get all the skills you can have in the game. From level 30 to level 80 you spend all the time earning some points you distribute in some different branches to enhance the abilities. That is all. There is nothing else. I started playing this game and stopped playing within the same month.

Other games like SWToR, even if they are not the best MMO out there, keep me playing for a long time (I've been playing SWToR since launch, still enjoy the game). Sure SWToR has many flaws, but it entertains me and I have son fun while playing it. Being the cruelest, most ruthless and bloodthirsty sith in the galaxy is not something any MMO can offer to the players. And this game achieves this goal in a spectacular way. No other game has satisfied me more than SWToR in the last 5 years. Never enjoyed playing an MMO like SWToR since the times of FFXI.

Invalid argument. You can have even with the most shitty games fun with friends. Even PONG is fun with friends. But that doesnt make GW2 a good game only because youre having fun with friends. Playing with friends is not equally the same at all. Sure GW2 offers some decent graphics with nice astethics bundled in a shitty engine, but many many other things are so boring.

Agreed.  It's ridiculous.  What a horrible title to the author's article.  This site absolutely sucks when it comes to delivering information.  Between the speculative articles with misleading titles and all the idiotic "5 things MMO X can do to blah blah blah" garbage, it's frankly embarrassing.  The only reason anyone would have to come on this site is because the actual posters know info well before the site breaks it.

Seriously, MMORPG.com...get your shit together.  This place is run by a bunch of amateurs.

    .

If you've decided that Gw2 is not for you, what the fuck are you doing commenting in a Gw2 thread unless  you are troll baiting?

There are at least 10 points that are wrong with your statement, but you are not worth my time to explain. #NoTrollBaits

Im just saying- this expansion better turn the world up side down- otherwise the game stay still shit as it is. And if you played GW1 before you would understand.

If they expand the skills section i can definetely see a Greatsword on Necromancers happening. Both Trahearne and Marjory have shown basic attacks using a GS as Necros. (Though caledbolg doesnt really count as it has special seperate attacks which have nothing to do with a necro.)
