Well you can still get the regular version for $23.49 at amazon. Best Buy has pulled the game and Gamestop still was selling at $59.99. I would guess the price will go back up with it becoming B2P.

GW2 is B2P and started at 59.99, I has seen sales a low as 19.99.
Ironies of ironies all around. Most of us critics said it would be going F2P sooner rather than later. Even before launch. But (first irony) it wasnt good enough to be free to play at launch. We (well I) figured it would have an Announcement in Nov or Dec and release as F2P with a cash shop sometime in March, got the release part right not the announcement part.
One thing i was misguided on was that they had gone beyond trying to fix the game (to make it F2P worthy) So I thought they were maybe trying to stay sub for another 8-9 months. But I suspect their inability to get both console companies to waive the sub fee had more to do witht hat than anything. Had BOTH Sony and Xbox waived their fees the game would still be subscription based all around (and the box prices would have been reduced for PC version) I suspect that is why they dropped the price this past month they had a glimmer that the hold out was dropping the sub, but then in the end backed out. Makes ZERO sense to drop the price of a B2P game to 30% of retail price so close to a B2P transition. So I think they got fooled. But that was the second irony because had they not announced this I was actually going to sub one more month. So they would have gotten 34.88 out of me instead of just 19.89.
Either way B2P is maybe the best option but to me didnt make sense with what has happened the past month.
But we all knew it wasnt going to stay sub forever. And their plan all along was to be free to play or buy to play.
They jusy didnt follow a very coherent plan the past few months.
