You Know a Game is Good When...

A major content patch is released and mmorpg.com has no mention of it on the front page and the forum for FFXIV has practically no activity.

It means that Square Enix isnt paying mmorpg.com for ad space or hype/rating boosts and everyone is playing the game and not whining on the forums.

FFXIV is the greatest themepark mmo on the market right now and it shows.

OP might have had a point asking why MMORPG didn't cover it, but lost it with the addition of his supposition and hyperbole.

Aren't opinions always subjective and allowed to originate from a point of bias?

After all, if it were objective and unbiased, it wouldn't be opinion, it would be fact, wouldn't it?

You can have an objective opinion.  That would be an opinion after looking at all the facts.

Then WoW has supposedly been dead for the last 10 years since Blizzard forums have always been full of complaints.

Well to be honest Square has never pushed their products onto anyone like say Blizzard does. You open up HS BAM in your face Heroes of the storm adverts, open up WOW BAM HOTS adverts, open up Diablo BAM HOTS adverts.

Even when Square gets an ad in you wont see the WE ARE THE BEST from ,them, they tend to be quiet and respectful.Remember that super long stream from some giant gaming convention all they did the entire time was bow in respect to their audience.Other devs will be like yelling to the crowd  Is our game not the best...doesnt this look fun.they put words into your mouth which really doesnt sit well with me.

You wont see a Square Enix commercial on TV like you see other stuff including that 45 million Kate Upton advert for a game that prolly cost them 5ok to make.

It is funny the second poster mentions BIAS because i think that is EXACTLY what the OP is pointing at,biased news.

If you think not then look at some of the games that all of a sudden get mentioned right out of the neon space Jupiter lol, games that look some tossed away freeware and MMORPG is doing an article on it.

Before you try to say they are doing a good job bringing all that added Indie stuff, there does seem to be a trend towards a few developers and games.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

FFXIV doesn't need MMORPG.com to thrive.  It's doing that rather well on its own.  So it matters little whether or not mmorpg.com covers it's every update.

That's on mmorpg.com.  If they don't want to write an article on a successful game, that's their decision.  But the success of the game will not hinge on an mmorpg.com article.  Anybody who is interested in a new mmorpg is aware of FFXIV already.

Besides, seeing the amount of vitriol that is spewed out of most posters on this site, I would almost be inclined to pay mmorpg.com to NOT post about my game.

Doesn't this like, totally invalidate the root of the topic creator's hypothesis or something?  Or am I missing something here because it's been an entire page of posts since this post and no one seems to be paying it any notice.

Neither does any other MMO. I think you are mis understanding the entire purpose of sites like mmorpg.com And i see that you still have hurt feelings over the criticism WS get? you don't forget to mention how bad the community is here in every post of yours and yet you continue to post for some odd reason. *shrugs*

This could cut both ways. The reason there is no mention or discussion about it could be because very few people play it and no one gives a shit. Just a thought.

"All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing."

Nice quote you got there. So maybe people should give a shit when the good guy SE puts in 110% effort month after month to provide as much value to the customer as possible, while other bad guy devs continue to piss on their playerbases by doing the absolute bare minimum content-wise, focusing on the cash shop instead of increasing value of the product and all-around making sure that they have to put in as little effort as possible while making the customer spend as much as possible.

Good men of the MMOsphere will soon do nothing if y'all prefer the evil. It shouldn't matter whether you hate themepark, Asian art style, 2.5 gcd or whatever petty problems you might have regarding this game; you should still support the game because it represents something that is lacking ALL AROUND the MMO scene: a healthy giving and taking relationship between the devs and the customers. If you dislike FFXIV and SE, you dislike getting value for your money.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".
