you need better video card, i have GeForce FX 5200 and i have about 12-30 Frame per second. I dont know about other games you play but i think most future mmorpg will requires video card that support pixel shader 1.1 - 2.0 if you want nice graphics with great details of environment and animations.
Originally posted by angus858 A few months from now Irth Online may be a fantastic game, or it may not. To some extent it depends on the dedication of the beta testers. You wont learn anything about the game's potential by testing it for one hour. But if you stay for the long haul and the game succeeds it will be a victory for you as much as it will be for Magic Hat. At least that's the way I look at it.
You may be very correct about this. I got the BETA and tried to play for an hour or so. Pretty much I just tried to get a grasp of the controls. It was quite a horrid experience. I all but gave up on it.
Just last night I decided to give it a shot again and guess what... there were definately changes made. This game is growing daily and almost hourly. I dont think it is my cup of tea but keep in mind people... this is NOT a finished product! No where NEAR finished. Hopefully they can delay the forcasted launch date a month or two so they can finish up.
I will tell you this much... the world is HUGE! I was using gatekeepers just bouncing from place to place until eventually I came to a spot that had no gatekeeper. I ran for about 45 minutes and still didn't find anything so I called it a night. Time to make a new character that is actually near a town. :P

The box I was playing on was a P4 1.6, 512 MB DDR 2100 RAM, and a GeForce 4 TI 4200 64 MB and i didn't notice it was choppy at all. I did hit 'lag' spots sometimes but it was a very small portion of the time.
personally, I think anyone still running a GeForce4 should get a 5200 atleast. Its like $80 now, which is nothing. I can buy a GeForce4 with like $15 now, time to upgrade people =/
Actually I have no complaints about my card right now. I can play lineage2 with PC/NPC settings set to 5 (so you see people far away) even in castle sieges of 100-300 people who are all casting spells and using skills. No serious lag issues. I dont care if I can see a freckle on someone's face who is 100 yards away from me. I upgrade when i need to not when there is something better out there. If it aint broke dont fix it
Is this a joke ? Or is this company (Magic Hat) is trying to redefine what Alpha/Beta stage means in a software production life cycle ? I bet they are also trying to redefine our standard for what we think is good and bad, and evil...
I downloaded it (painfull), I installed it (even more painfull), I ran it (wouldnt run the 1st time of course), I was able to log finally and burst alternatively in tears and laughs. If there is one thing I cannot stand, its a poorly done interface. With all the existing game, it wouldnt ahve been too difficult to grab good ideas here and there... I cant say more, I had to sign a 10 years NDA that keep people from communicating on how huge this is (nice move by the way for an open Beta)
Now, where is all the good stuff they have been hyped for years... Gigantic battle, quests, combat with blood and gore, boats, riding horses, flying machines,...
Well, its uninstalled. There are no second chance in this market, once everyone saw you, unless they change teh company name, the game name, and finish it in the 3 years it need to be finished, with a new engine, a content (the world is empty without any tutorial: oh yes : I am free to do whatever I want right ? As I said, every single flaw is justified by "yes it sthe way its supposed to be". Well, it doesn twork for me. I pass., very disapointed.

If you thought your download was painful just be glad you didn't try it on the first day. They used a service called Two Degrees that was absolutely horrid. There are now several download options which are quite painless.
As for the "good stuff": gigantic battles would require a gigantic number of players I would think. At the moment the game is populated by beta testers. I don't know how many are there but I suspect the number wouldn't qualify as "gigantic".
It is difficult to comment more directly on the other "good stuff" without violating the NDA. Suffice it to say that most things in Irth can only be found if you actually take the time to look for them. Many people will prefer a game with hand-holding features that lead you sequentially from one bit of content to the next. I've heard that WoW actually puts flashing icons over the heads of npc's so you don't have to think about who to talk to next. I'd never want to play a game like that but this is the nice thing about having so many mmorpgs available. You can pick the type you like. I like a game that requires me to think.
Nowhere on their web site did I see a promise about having a tutorial. I have no idea what the dev's plans are but I doubt they would invest their time in a tutorial showing us how to mount a horse, swing a sword, or talk to an npc. At least I hope they don't. Most veteran mmorpg gamers know how to right click and select from a menu. Just as they know how to customize their UI.
There is nothing unusual about a game being in beta test before all of the promised features are available. For that matter many games actually release without all their promised features. That annoys me greatly and I hope IO doesn't go that rout. I still haven't forgiven Nevrax for releasing SoR when they did. But even if all the features do make it in for release, IO will not be the game for everyone. That's for sure.
Also new MMORPG Clan coming up just got the Site up yesterday so it is still under going updates,(The banner and all will be changed seems we ran into an error so check it out and register the forums willa slo be updated soon just somthing to start with!!! http://www.internaldarkness.com !!!! enjoy and we are Recuriting for MMORPG fans!!!
Why is there no official forum here on that site about a game being released next month ? How can Irth have a 6.5 hype at that point ? It can not be compared to any of the other serious project, and imho, Irth shoudl never has been listed on mmorpg at first. Even the Magic Hat staff will tell you their project is so atypical that it is a sin to compare it.

As for the lack of an official forum, only a moderator could answer that question. My guess is that it's because mmorpg.com has no good reason to think that the game will release anytime soon and relatively few people are following its development anyway. Or it may be because Magic Hat hasn't spent a single dollar on advertising with mmorpg.com or any other web site that I know of.
The hype numbers are probably a reflection of the hopes many people have for IO based on its design philosophy and intended features. It is not based on how fun the game is at this stage of its development. But the hype numbers on this site don't ever mean anything useful.
I don't know why IO shouldn't be listed here though. It is atypical but not truly revolutionary. And it's probably closer to release than half of the games mmorpg.com lists as "in developement". It is a serious project and may find favor with thousands of gamers even if you don't care for it.
Complete rubbish, there is no way this game should be in Open Beta, this is still in the Alpha stage, it has appalling graphics, awful lag, and the combat system is dire!
Add that to the fact that there is no way of relaying any comments to the dev team and here you have a game that will take you longer to DL than to play and uninstall it again, worst Beta experiance I have ever had!

and official word from the lead dev IS that the game will be released WHEN it's ready...that can be 2 weeks or 2 years...you deside.
they've done lots about graphics and gameplay...latest patch included over 20 changes and most medium comp people have ok framerates now...give it another try!
I dare to announce this game is BEST thing for any hardcore UO fan and comes closest to UO2 we will ever see in this world of EQ clones.
I have been in the game for a few weeks now and I am loving it. Each patch brings many improvements. The community is great and the Devs are awsome. This game has great promise

If you join open beta of WoW, your bug reporting doesnt matter and dev of WoW doesnt read your post because its purpose is to give you a chance to try the game for free. Irth Online development team like to use different approach to open beta and its purpose to find bugs and know what you think. Know the difference. Your opinions in open beta of WoW means nothing. Your opinions in open beta of Irth Online can actually change the outcome of the game. You dont like the character's graphic? talk about it in the private forum and put some suggestions if possible. You dont like the user interface? say so in constructive manner to dev and they will listen. Next thing you know, 3-4 days later, your opinion becomes a reality in-game.
Although i no longer play WoW i did for about 3 months...as well as beta tested it. You can't really compare WoW's beta with Irth's beta....
WoW = best beta experience i've ever had (I've tested: EQ2, MxO, WISH, Irth, RYL, FW and SoR).
Irth = Next to WISH, it's the worst beta test i've done. (how ironic that the 2 crappiest betas i've done share the same character models, heheh.)

Ah, finally an answer to my question ...posted on another thread. The game will be released in 2 weeks or 2 years? Well that really nails it down. Kishe, first you were going on and on about how MMORPG had faked the release date of July 10th. You were stating that Irth is in early beta suggesting that its several months from being released. So which is it? Is it early beta or toward the end of beta? You seemed so adamant about the July release date as something fraudulant from MMORPG. Now you are saying its a few weeks or a few years ...according to what the developers tell you? Doesn't it make you wonder about the facts you keep claiming? There are a number of online previews and interviews stating a July 2005 release. Some are rather recent and yet the developer has not corrected the mistake. It must be a massive gaming conspiracy then. And where is the "official" word from Magic Hat about the game will be released whenever it is ready? I cannot find any official mention of this? And it could be 2 weeks or 2 years, our decision? Based on comments posted by others ...it would seem that the community at large has decided this game needs 2 more years.
This game need about another 2 years of development. Needs a lot of work.
Based on it's style of gameplay and graphics, I would say it is dated some time around 1992 - 1995. They probably took an old game from 1992 and built on top of it.

Yeah, I found a number of websites (other than this one) giving out a July release date. Gamespy states a Q3 2005 (July, August, September) release.
