Well, perhaps someone at MMORPG.com can do us a favor and clarify exactly what happens when a subscriber stops their subscription. From what I've read, you still have access to everything you had when you subscribed, including all the current content. So that means, if you subscribed past the launch of a DLC update and then unsubscribe, you will still have access to that DLC update as if you had paid for it.
Subscribers do not pay for anything other than the subscription and additional "crowns" for the cash shop on top of the 1500 they get each month with their subscription. This subscription model is closer to LOTRO than GW2, so perhaps we should stop comparing it to GW2.
Yeh that's what I was thinking last week when they announced how their cash and sub option worked. It sounds nearly identical to LoTRO's set up. The only difference being that you have to buy the box for ESO. I'm curious to see if they will have ways to give complimentary crowns by like completing achievements, etc.. Like 10 here or 15 there then use that as a way to get you to look into their cash shop.
Can you convert Turbine point to gold? Remember in ESO there is no cash to gold conversion of any kind.
No you cannot convert turbine points to gold as far as I know. At least not directly. Also pretty much all of their cash shop items are character or account bound. As far as ESO not having non-tradable items, so far it looks like all of their stuff is account/character bound as well except their "bundles". At least they failed to mention that in their patch notes though they listed the other items as non-tradable. Maybe that was on oversight or they forgot to mention those are not tradable either? So maybe these "bundles" will be something that you might see in the guild auctions that people will use to convert their crowns to gold. Since the ESO cash shop is hitting test server, I guess we will see how and what actually stays tradable before it's launched. Maybe they will eventually go more towards the SWTOR and AoW route and allow some cash shop items to be traded? It's not like ZOS isn't known for changing their minds.

They've said numerous time EVERYTHING is account bound. You will not be able to sell or trade any of it. Bundles are also in the patch notes.
Can I transfer, sell or gift items or content purchases from the Crown Store to other players?
No. Items purchased with crowns are used exclusively by the account holder.

Look at the patch notes that you linked. See how they list items in a bullet point format and each item they describe, they specifically note that it's nont-tradable,...EXCEPT the "bundle"? Why state on each item's description that it's going to be non-tradable EXCEPT the bundle? Like I said, it could have been they simply forgot to add that bullet for that particular item. I can buy that. However, if they meant for every item in the cash shop to be non-tradable, then why bother saying specifically for each item listed in the notes? Why not just one bullet statement stating, "Everything is non-tradable" just below Crown Store in the notes? Besides, If they want to make changes to store they will, based on feedback. Remember how they were saying they had no intentions of loosing the subscription model? Their cash store hasn't launched yet so they are beholden to nothing until then.
You let people play for free and its not good enough so they bitch. Make it a sub game and same outcome. ZM model is more then fair and game companies need to make money or we would have no games. Strip it down any way you like it, there has to be a reason we want to give them money. They have given us options on how we do that, how can they be any more fair? Give everything away so they have to close their doors in 3 months? Get a grip people.

Covers it man... Your reaching pretty deep on this one. Like I said they've given official response to the very specific question "will I be able to sell crown store items for in game gold." with "No" numerous times within numerous formats. I'm going to leave it at that.

The things we have in common here in this discussion is that we are both picking and choosing where we are getting our information. The difference though is that I'm using patch notes that were posted today and you are using a FAQ posted last week when they first announced B2P. Who is using the more current information? Why bother linking patch notes here on these forums if you don't believe them? Besides, I'm not the one angry with it being tradable or non-tradable. Are you? I'm just pointing it out from their official patch notes. Don't get mad at me if it's their typo. Sheesh.

Agreed. There is always something to complain about. I think this B2P/P2P model is good enough as long as they remember that non subscribers are still game buyers and keep the cash shop in check. The game is not free, cash shop should be decent. Im sure the game will do much better now.

Yeah I am pretty lenient on judging companies who go free or buy. Archeage is basically the worst of the worst. And its really the only one I was super critical of. Mostly because a subscription isnt enough due to the labor system. Which is actually a good idea, but taken to such an extreme it doesnt work without spending extra money.
All these companies tak a good game before they change but ESO is in its own world due to console version that is a money prinitng machine. Throw SWOTOR, Lotro, AOC, RIFT, etc etc etc on a console and I suspect they wouldnt be so much of a nickle and dime approach either. But even those games as a whoe arent horrible.
It's really hard to convert TP into gold, but there are a couple roundabout ways to do it. Most everything is bound to account, but I think there is a way to do some crafting (essences) using a TP purchased component. It's moderately popular but not a huge influence because most people just farm their TP from playing the game.
It sounds like most stuff will be bound to account in ESO. If there is one or two things that aren't it won't bother me. I don't usually convert cash shop stuff to gold or vice versa.
In the end it all depends on what it is and how it works. I'll wait and see.
Same here. I could care less either way. I'm also a lifetime LOTRO subber and suspected there were workarounds through the crafting portion of the cash shop. However, since I don't craft then, meh. I just use my stock piled TP to buy expansions and mounts. I currently have 12K TP and even after I buy the Riders of Rohan and Helm's Deep expacs I will still have like 5K left over lol.
But yeh, I don't see people complain about SWTOR's tradable cash shop items per say which a lot of its players will say that having some of their items tradable is it's cash shop's saving grace. Will some people complain about cash shop tradable items? Apparently. Will people still play the game? Absolutely.

What does no "major" updates really mean, no housing, no new zones, no new epic quest lines?
I've read several post regarding this but none seems to really answer it, does this mean ESO will put in sleeping mode after update 1.6 with only bug fixing in the future?
There will still be major updates, but they will not be free to everyone. After the transition to B2P, you'll have to either be subscribed or buy DLCs to receive things like new zones, thieves guild/dark brotherhood, new major content in general. So, as long as you sub, nothing will change, if not you'll need to buy crowns to spend on DLCs. Housing is "at the top of the list", according to their recent reddit AMA. That will most likely not be a DLC, but we don't know for sure yet. Epic quest lines haven't been mentioned. ZOS will still be actively developing the game, and I expect we will see major updates shortly after console launch, but probably not before.

Completely agree with both of you. Personaly I would have liked P2P model much more but B2P isn't bad either IF cash shop remains civilized. I'll stay subbed because monthly sub costs just as much as few pints in a pub.
