I really hope these guys hunker down and do something about frame rates before official launch. I just bought a 980GTX and it made no difference with this game. That's along with my i7 with 8gigs of ram.
Out in the open away from the city standing perfectly still I get almost 90 FPS, the minute you start to move and look around FPS plummets to 25.
There isn't a single place I can find where frames don't get destroyed while moving or looking. Game looks promising but there is currently something really broken with the rendering engine. Granted its running on Unity and its alpha, but there are some amazing looking Unity games that run silky smooth so I know its possible.
Good luck devs, I'm rooting for you.

Hello,
Sadly its related to Unity3D bug, which should be fixed anyweek we hope since community is moaning much about it.
There's a topic about it at their forum if you are curious in any way http://issuetracker.unity3d.com/issues/terrain-tree-culling-performance-regression
When they will finally fix this, there should be no framedrops at all.
By the way, they are only CPU related so if you have any background working applications, shutting them down will help.

Thanks Jo, that's great news I keep jumping back in to test but unfortunately I'm very sensitive to frame rates, I get really bad eye strain from low frames.
Can hardly wait for the fix!
