All the devs leaving. I wonder what happen?

Recently I've been reading the Ultima Online forums at www.stratics.com. It seems like quite a few devs have decided to leave the UO team, move, or just plain quit to go on to other things. Now the community rep has said nothing is going on and no one has been fired, but you don't have this mean people leave without something happening up top.

The last time I saw this happen was when the Ultima X: Odyssey section of EA was moved to Cali from Texas. You have all the lead members and secondary members decide not to move, left the company, or transfered to other projects. A month of no talks and then the game was canceled. Most likely I think cause they couldn't get anyone to work on the project since most of the basicly left when EA pulled the moving crap.

Even if there is a new expansion coming out, you don't have this many, I think it's up to 7 or 8 people so far, leave without something happening. The UO team is already pretty small to begin with last time I heard and these are lead people leaving I think.

I never had a problem with UO outside of the graphics but I'd hate to see it end like this. PersonallY i think a new graphics upgrade could give the game a second coming. It has a great setup with only the graphics holding it back I feel, otherwise it's great and fun to play.

What are your thoughts on the devs leaving?

What made UO really great for me was the community.  But without people playing the game its really boring.

They need to scale down on shards and make the reminding ones more full.

That was a dev from Asheron's Call, actually.

They would have to rescend AoS also to get it to being a decently playable game. Short of that they should make Doom work differently. It just gets to tiring and boring now to quickly. Everytime the entire development team pretty much just gives up on UO (like has pretty much just happened) it is NEVER a good sign.

I had a friend who worked as a coder for UO, and he lost his job to outsourcing in China.

UO is dead, and EA is just trying to find a reasonable way to drop it like a bad habit, like any smart company should.
