It was fun for at first, but then the reality settled in... after I realized it would take me THOUSANDS  upon THOUSANDS of silver to unlock tier 4 crafting materials.

The equipment duration loss is totally harsh, it costs more money going and fighting in dungeons than it costs to repair your gear for going into them in the first place!

I had gold to spare, since I purchased the Legendary pack for myself, and the Epic pack for my kids(I also sponsored an Epic pack giveaway for DocGotGame).  Once the gold was gone, I didn't see a point to keep on playing, and there was no way in hell I would pay another cent.

I'm not going to lie, the game was fun for a few days, but I just don't have the time to waste on it.

In a game where the death penalty is so harsh, I see no point to such an unforgiving equipment duration loss.  It needs to go.

Also, I hated the fact that you couldn't unlock achievements before other ones.  It's just a big waste of time.  That was one thing Minecraft did WRONG, and I think its lame you(Albion Online) copied that mechanic from them.

I also think it's bull shit that you don't gain combat experience for WEARING cloth, leather, and metal gear, you only gain combat experience for using staffs, bows, and melee weapons.  For a game that boasts how we can play our way, with the limitations imposed upon us by the achievements and only being able to advance in combat by using WEAPONS, I felt very pigeon holed to use only metal armor if I want to use a melee weapon.  Otherwise, you would have to sit and rank up each and every weapon, just to use the next tier of armor in that category.

Overall, I give the game a thumbs down.  Play it if you have tons of money to buy in game gold, and tons AND TONS of time to waste.

    Just my 2 cents.

Not exactly a fan of most all out PVP systems, but it can work. Just because you can kill someone doesn't mean you want to. Just think of real life. You can attack anybody you see, and it's full loot on top of that. t'sThere are reasons not to do that though.

And it worked in some games before, too. The official UO servers might have been a gank fest, but there where (and are) dozens, hundreds, maybe thousands of free shards. Some had not a single NPC, and you started without any items.

Others went a middle way, with a bare minimum of NPCs, selling the initial tools and stuff, but still with open world PVP including fool loot. And yet i know of some people that never even touched a weapon. Did they get killed? Probably less than your average player. And even if you chose one side, joined a good/evil guild, most of the time you could go about business.

Other people are humans, too. They don't want to get killed, either. They kill you, they get killed by your friends before they make it back to the city. Either it is done now, or it escalates until it is a server wide conflict.

Anyways,  if the balance is right, people who do not want to fight don't get touched, no matter their affiliation. And if they get attacked and killed, it just tips the scales in favor to the side not doing it, with people who previously stayed out of this joining. Because, if side x is not shying away from killing innocent player A, who keeps them from killing innocent player B?

It's not exactly easy to get it right, but it can work, and i think it's good if some games try to make it work.

About the rest of the game, no idea,

I'll wait to the day's end when the moon is high
And then I'll rise with the tide with a lust for life, I'll
Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde
And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore

    Hi all,

I am one of the game designers of Albion Online.

There are certainly issues with the silver economy in the game right now, with silver being too much of a bottleneck. This was not intentional and is rather a consequence of us being maybe a little bit too afraid of inflation in the game economy. For the next Alpha test, to happen in this summer, we will make significant changes to the economy which should be much better and feel less restrictive overall.

    All the best

    Korn
