Auction House plus Guild Trader

JosephProsekJosephProsek Member UncommonPosts: 98

I was watching episode 3 of TESO Nation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_EDnuW0VYw today and two of the hosts (Larry Everett @shaddoe and Jacob Hausman @deltiasgaming) were going back and forth over rather they should keep guild traders or move to auction houses like most other games. Both had solid arguements for why their way was better and it made me think of this.

How about a meet in the middle type thing on auction houses? They add city auction houses, but also keep all the guild traders. Now you have an auction house in all the main cities that combine all the guild traders in one place for easy access for lazy people like me. Now when some one puts an item up for sell on their guild trader it also shows up on the city auction houses, when someone uses the auction house there is also an extra fee  plus you have to wait for that item to be mailed to you from the guild trader. For those that have the time and want to save money they can just go to the guild trader and skip the fee/mail. Everyone wins. If they ever add houses you could also put a personal stall in your house or apartment that works the same way as guild traders but just for you. People that want the best deals have to spend the time to go get them or the lazy people can just pay the fee and wait for the item to be mailed. You could even add an option that says your item can only be bought from your guild trader but the listing still shows up on the city auction house so people know where stuff is and where to go get it.

Yeah lots of possibilities. I've never been a fan of the "join 5 guilds" bit nor the guild trader as the only way to purchase good gear and supplies.

There's also an old system that I haven't seen in an MMO since Asheron's Call that I rather liked: everything sold to a vendor became part of that vendor's inventory for resale. It made it relatively easy for non-crafters to gear up and it would fit well with the traditional ES trainable skills for buying and selling as well as a reputation system.

Lots of improvements can be made.

I like that idea from AC, but seems to me it would impact the new justice system a lot more. Giving players even more items to steal off the vendors.

If they can do it in a way that prevents item flipping then I am all for it but I have yet to see an AH system that prevents it.

ZOS need to humbly ask ANet for a couple of lessons and then fix fail called guild stores/traders.

And yes, flipping is currently tons more easy in ESO than in "classic AH"
