That's an impressive nosedive Wildstar's been taking there!
I suspect it'll serve as an example for future MMO developers of what happens when you build your game around targeting a minor niche group (hardcore raiders).
I dont think thats the case. I think every game that tryes to emulate WoW is doomed to fail (even the mighty Wow's general trend is to go down slowly).
I think the problem with EQ/Wow clones is that they copy recent WoW model. And WoW is no longer MMORPG, it turned (around late WOTLK) in shalow MMO-Combat-Game. And that kind of games become borring fast because ppl expect so much more from what they see as MMORPG.
And between MMO-combat-game and MOBA 99% will choose MOBA because it offers better combat and its cheaper.
I hope NCSoft is happy with themselves, I will never feel sorry for a company that turned its back on the best community in gaming. We City of Heroes players begged, petitioned and pleaded with NCSoft to not shut our game down and they didn't care at all, I hope every game fails they release, I will never buy from them again.
In this age, MMOs need to have crosshair aiming and lots of fun combat to survive minus crappy Neverwinter
Started PC gaming in August, 2013. Games played (in order): FF14 ARR ==> Guild Wars 2 ==> Planetside 2 ==> League of Legends ==> Neverwinter (still playing)==> Back to League of Legends for a second try
Originally posted by Jens008 Which is fine, your kids should probably stick to WoW which is easy for them. But my point is, why Hate on a game because of its focus? WS is perma - spammed with abuse by people who dont play it. And Yeah, i played swtor when it came out but found the endgame Heroic Flashpoint and raids a little too easy and kinda dull. I did play the trooper tank tho, which at the time was pretty faceroll. Thats the thing about MMOs, give them a chance and they can correct and change. WS is already easier, but it has the reputation of a sour fish. If people would come back now, in drop 4, they would experience a VERY different game.
My kids are still too young for a 'computer', let alone an MMO.
I decided not to play Wildstar cause the developer's focus wasn't on my playstyle.
I can't dedicate 2-3 hours continuously on a raid.
I hope they right the ship. They made an interesting world (wildstar).Would be a shame to see it go so soon
Ok serious question - I'm MMO-less so looking to play something for a while.... I have never played WS so is it decent??
That's truly for you to decide. And now you can. They released a 10 day free trial just last week. You are able to get up to level 20 which is enough to check out a couple of shiphands, dungeons and adventures. I recommend Entity for NA and Jabbit for EU. While you cannot join a guild you can join Circles which are sort of like guilds without guild banks. Each server has player created Circles and Chat Channels for players. Some are public, so try to join those to get in contact with people. At the bottom I'll put a link to a partial list. If on the NA server, Entity, you may also want to check out "/chjoin entitychat" and "/chjoin entitylfg". Good luck and have fun.
