I'm sorry, but that just rings hollow to me right now. This isn't as bad as being a Spellborn fan though. Almost, but not quite. Hopefully if EQN ever sees the light of day, it is halfway decent...

well, it is true they say they will continue on their current path..etc., so you may be right and I hope you are. Time will tell.

Landmark was invested in via a founders program and they basically killed the game by removing everyone in charge of it. Now comes the question of how people are going to be reimbursed their money and if a lawsuit is necessary.

That game was Minecraft on steroids and could have been a massive success and they trashed it.

How did they trash it? So far all we have is the new owners cleaning out top level management. Common in just about every take over. Im personally waiting to see what direction current games will take and how games in development will be managed. Lets wait and see if they miss manage their games before we call them game wreckers. Most devs laid off have said, keep supporting and playing Daybreak games if you love them. Even they dont have this level of hate lol

Did you even look at the list of people let go? It was the people in charge of making the games, the top DESIGNERs.

Remove the idea people in charge of a project, you completely alter the project. And no, it is not "common" to remove people at the head of a projects creation when taking over a company. You may remove the management at the head of the company, but not the team leaders. This isn't a department store that was bought out. This would be like buying out the De'Medici bank and firing Michelangelo, Leonardo and Boticelli...

If that could happen, I would be down for it.

Dave was always a breath of fresh air on Landmark Live. I'm sad to see him go and wonder what the show will be like this week.

I guess this is the nail in the coffin for EverQuest Next. Shame really. I was looking forward to the game.

    Are you guys serious?!

While I wasn't always happy with SMED's business decisions, Brad didn't help himself on how he handled Vanguard: Saga of Heroes either.  Quite the debacle.

    Neither I would chose  LOL

I'll be VERY surprised is EQNEXT comes out as planned with all features in tact.  Very interesting to see what happens..

There are reasons why these things are happening to most of all of the major game studios.  Look around at what has been happening to the gaming industry.  It is dying as we speak and why?  98% failure rate for the most part, I may be off a tad, but what does it matter really?

I am myself an EQ 1999 beta player and it looks like the innovation that EQ (before SOE) and World of Warcraft brought to the industry are not being replaced by new studios that are passionate about what they do and not driven entirely by publishers.  Those days are over it looks unless somebody takes a chance for once in their life and starts their own business and goes back to running a real gaming studio!  Yes I know there are some kickstarter games and new hopefuls that will probably disappoint when they finally release like most games.  I am talking about Innovation here and it is innovation that made EQ and WoW what they were and we are missing that.

I wonder sometimes if this is connected to politics or the economy or the new generation of kids these days.  Why is it that the 90's were so great but today sucks?  Think long and hard about that.
