Possibility of a PVP server for D&D Online

It's being developed by Turbine. Turbine made AC1 and AC2. Both those games had a PVP server (Darktide). What do you think the odds are that they'll have a PVP server for D&D Online? I have no actual evidence indicating one way or another, but I personally give it a 50/50 chance. The only way I'll play the game is if there's a PVP server, because that's 90% of why I play MMORPGs.

I thought there was going to be no PvP at all in the initial release. PvP is something they are going to add in an expansion. I could be wrong. I don't follow the game that closely.

Its been stated by the devs that there will be NO pvp at launch but supposedly in the 2nd expansion pack there going to be adding pvp.

The game isn't about being a Turbine game or being another MMO. It's about providing as good of a D&D PnP experience online as humanly possible.

Don't play this game expecting PvP to be a focus. It might be added as an afterthought, but this is not a PvP game, so go check out Face of Mankind or some other game that is centered around PvP combat and prestige. Just like EQ2 and several other games. PvP is not central to the game mechanics, and therefore all PvP players do is complain about how it's not hardcore enough for them.

Try Guild Wars or Face of Mankind, and don't come to the other game forums and beg for PvP to be added. Go find a game designer making a PvP-focused title and ask for the features that you want out of PvP.

Just so everyone's on the same page, there are currently no plans for PvP in DDO, either for launch or for any time after launch. This doesn't mean that we've decided that PvP will never, ever be a part of DDO, but it does mean that it's something that we're not considering at all right now, and that it's completely off the table for launch. This applies to all forms of PvP, including arena combat.

The primary reason why we're not doing PvP is that we don't see it as being part of the spirit of D&D. While player conflict does come up in pen-and-paper D&D campaigns, the focus of D&D has always been on overcoming challenges together as a party. We also are not doing PvP because the 3.5e D&D ruleset is not balanced for PvP -- in order to make PvP work in DDO, we'd either have to live with an inbalanced system, make significant changes to the ruleset for PvP purposes, or create and maintain a separate set of rules for PvP. None of these options are viable at this time. For a more in-depth explanation of our PvP decision, please see this thread.

If we do add PvP to DDO at some point down the road (and that's a big "if"), we will want to make sure we do it right. We will never add PvP just so we can say "Hey, we have PvP!" This same philosophy holds true for anything else we might add after launch (tradeskills, etc.)

    The bigger question is this:

     1. Will DDO ever get developed? Will DDO ever make it to Beta? Will it ever release? Will it ever make it past its 1  year annaversary? Market trends say.... NO!

Turbine is trying to make two mmorpgs  at the exact same time. Get this... not only will they be compeating vs all the tons of other MMORPGs out there.... they will be compeating vs each other! Turbine already has 1 unofficially failed MMORPG - AC2. More evidence going against DDO ever being a successful MMORPG.

PvP and Perma-Death are two very different things. A PvE game can have perma-death. A PvP game can not have perma-death.
