Looking for a new MMO to play

mark2123mark2123 Member UncommonPosts: 450

Ditched WoW, to much of the same thing rinsed and repeated and no longer value for money (in my opinion).

Not enough time to dedicate to Eve - I like how you can progress skills whilst off-line so dont' feel compelled ot log in all the time, but there's little that can be achieved without treating it like a job.

So, any views on an MMO that has lots of content, can be played a bit casually most of the time and given the odd 3-4 hour session as and when required, has a thriving community/numbers i.e. people on the servers, don't mind the style or whether it's a themepark or not, just want to do something different.

Tried SWTOR - too many stories that dont' care much for

Tried GW2 - each zone feels like a chore to get round everything after a while

Tried Wildstar - too many quest-fests with no real meaning to them

Tried Rift and FF Reborn - Too similar to WoW

Does anyone who perhaps feels like I do about WoW etc have something to recommend?

Thanks.

Neverwinter's easy to play casually, and it has a pretty large community. There's always tons of players online.

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

I hear ya bro, I hear ya...my sentiments exactly.

I tried Neverwinter, as I was in it from the beginning. Infortunately, I ditched that game after the HUGE auction house exploit, despite claims it did not effect many. I saw otherwise and it tainted my experience. Not sure with so much time passed, if it is still an issue. But, I must admit, I had more fun in Neverwinter than probably any other MMORPG I have played since 1998.

I can recommend a really old game : Anarchy Online

It may not have the up to date graphics, but game wise it is one of the best still

    Sevencore

The Mighty Quest For Epic Loot

    H1Z1

    Tera

Are you onto something or just on something?

Just got two games off of steam; both are along the sandbox games, free build and pvp or pve.

    http://store.steampowered.com/app/332500/ GravOnline

    http://store.steampowered.com/app/290080/ Life is Feudal

Both games are really fun, GravOnline is scifi and Life is Feudal is Middle Ages

Depends on how you want to spend those 3 - 4 hours in a game. If you want a deep roleplay community, in-game politics, lots of crafting skills, and no real incentive to grind to max level (except the ability to transform into a dragon), try out Achaea. If you want to just hop into a game and run through some dungeons and find loot, maybe try Kings Road, its a browser-based game very similar to Diablo except each dungeon/level only takes like 15 minutes to beat.

Anarchy Online is/was the best... but low population and Funcom keep me away.... but sometimes I feel like the main reason I don't play it anymore is because I spent years with it and got bored...been there done that feeling.

Have you tired The Secret World?

    Firefall Is pretty good.

Age of Wushu is EVE in Ming Era China. Nearly identical skill progression systems.

I know you asked for an MMO but... I recently ditched all mmo's as they felt like a "job". Bought an Xbox One and been having a blast with Dragon Age: Inquisition, Thief, Assassins Creed Black Flag & Unity, The Evil Within (superb!), Shadow of Mordor. Destiny i hear is very "mmo" like for a FPS but i haven't tried it yet. Also heard good things about Evolve.

As for MMO's though honestly... they are all good depending on what you are looking for in one. I for one quit them because after 10 years they all felt the same. Quest here for 2-5 levels. Quest there: same. Crafting in MMO's lately is very boring. EQ-2 and SWG had great crafting systems. I also recently quit WoW, Warlords just barely had any meaningful content to keep you busy. Garrisons is like a job now. Everything has lock timers including loot, crafting, and raid lockouts. Blizzard wants more money from you guys by exploiting you with their gameplay these days. 25$ server change? psh... 30$ faction change? bleh. 25$ mounts? whatevz.

I might look into Kings Road as someone earlier mentioned. I like Diablo 3ish games. Anyways... Good luck to finding something =) Nothing good coming out but I do hear the new FFXIV:ARR expansion is going to be pretty dang fantastic ;)
