Loyalty Program Mount a Big Joke on Day 1 players.

As I alluded to in our special ESO Live show on the day we announced Tamriel Unlimited, I'm very happy to share that we'll be granting an exclusive mount to everyone who has been with us from the beginning: a special Striped Senche (giant cat) mount, given only to those who are eligible. If you see someone prowling the battlefield on one, you'll know you're looking at one of the core members of the community, someone who has been exploring Tamriel with us for quite some time.

Our goal in designing setting the criteria for eligibility was to ensure that we reward players who have been with us from the start, but to allow for the occasional lapse in subscription, as well. The criteria you'll need to meet to receive this very special mount are:

• You are an active ESO subscriber when we transition to Tamriel Unlimited.
• You have paid for 300 total days of subscription time (non-consecutive), prior to March 16^th.

Another part of our transition to Tamriel Unlimited will include the retirement of the Loyalty Program. We hope you'll treasure the special rewards you earned as some of our most dedicated players!

Ok, so they are offering a mount to day one players only if...   They are active subs when Tamriel Unlimited goes live, that sounds reasonable.

 

Next, You have paid for (10 months) 300 total days of subscription time (non-consecutive), prior to March 16th,  now this is one big fat joke on day one subscribers.  Heres why:

 

1.  The game did not launch until 4/4 of 2014.  Which means the game has only been out for 11 months.

2.  Anyone who missed two months of the last year will not be getting this mount, unless you sign up for a 3 month sub during next month and have atleast 7 months of sub in the previous year.   if you have 9 months sub in the last year and do not buy the 3 month sub during next month, you will not get the mount either.  Tell me thats not a JOKE.

 

If you have subbed for 7-9 months, its too bad, you dont get to have the mount...  the requirements do not allow you to get any rewards for being a loyal customer for most of the time you have been with ESO, I see this as one big slap in the face of all day one players who subbed for a majority of the time after release.  Considering the first three months were all bug fixes and some of this game time was no updates which people would just be doing the same thing in game.   GL getting returning players who have under 9 months of sub time with you in the last 12 months...

Well it is a reward for people who have stuck with them though the whole process since launch not just most of it so I don't see much of a issue myself.  And I let my sub lapse after the first 3 months so no I'm not getting the mount either.

Maybe they should have other rewards for the less loyal but it is their choice also.

And if you take that $15 a month times how ever many months you didn't subscribe you can probably buy a nice mount anyways if it will make you feel better.

dont care still not playing.  game is still bland/boring imo. i brought the CE for launch and just couldnt get into it. Maybe i set the bar too high cause of IP

Reminds me of the 10 year anniversary gift from Blizzard... only a small percentage of players got one... as intended.  

 

Same is true here... only you didn't have to keep subbed for 10 years.  Seems they are giving this one away by comparison.

Well you could look at it as $150 mount that you didn't buy, if it helps to ease the sting a little.

guess your right on that in many ways... the loyalty of those who dint sub the 10 months got the save their money from going through bug hell and no content after being R10 for so long.   Well said.

Lol people whining because they are not getting a mount because they didn't sub the whole time - bit pathetic. I subbed at start, stopped subbing because I didn't rate the game, then came back 4 months ago, should I rant because I don't get a mount? Lol no, I contributed less than those players that did stick through if (ie were loyal In the face of diversity)

I'm sure the mount will appear on the shop, prob for same price as a sub or so - so those that didn't sub the full time can allways. It it out of loyalty - thats fair.

You have to have been subbed for 10 months.  So if you were only subbed for maybe 5 months, like me, you get nothing.  I think Zenimax could show a little more generosity here and throw something to a second tier that maybe had less than 10 months but more than the initial included 30 day price.

That's not his complaint.  He is presenting that the mount only goes to month subs and nothing to 11 months subs.  That is false. 

 

As for your issue... wow. More generosity? How about a participation trophy?

They did and they have... several "loyalty reward" pets - the last one before this one was a dwarven sphere pet. This is just the last one of that rewards program and it happens to be a mount instead of a pet.

 

Originally it was going to be only for those who had been there from day one with no sub lapses at all... then a few people complained that they almost qualified and wanted one... so they added the bit about non-consecutive and counting any time you buy now that goes beyond March 17th.

 

And they have also said that it will never be sold on the cash shop. But of course those prophets who just know how the cash shop is going to devolve over time are already predicting that this is a lie... so there is that

yeah i also didnt get one because i let my sub lapse while out of town for a month. This was a real stick it to you for players who supported the game from early release and head start paying ahead of time. I actually got a temp ban for calling them out on it on their increased moderation crap they are doing but oh well I seriously hope whoever came up with this idea deserves to work at mcdonalds the rest of their life.

I'm with you I don't see the issue. It's just a mount for people who have "mostly" been loyal.

I suppose the OP is looking for the "I'm Uber loyal" gift?

As it is I'm getting one and I'll delete it. I don't see why a character of mine would be riding a tiger.

.....based on the exact scenerio you describe, you would still be eligible...Do you really mean that you let it lapse for more than a month?

Don't you guys know anything? They'd never do that. What they will do is sell a BETTER version of it in the cash shop. lol.

to me its the magnitude of the reward though. The first 3 IMO were utter crap then they actually offer a mount no matter how ugly it is and put it behind a large wall and say the loyalty program ends in march with buy to play. I have imp edition so a mount is included but it still feels like a real stick it to the customers who paid preorders etc in favor of a marketing scheme to get players who do not have it to buy a quick 3 month sub instead. At least reading how its marketed seems like just a ploy.

i stopped playing for a little over a month and have 270 days subbed.  the way they explain it its 300 days concurrent with no lapses.

Everything "for profit" companies do has the end goal of making money.
