Angry Joe interviews Paradox Interactive

Angry Joe recently interviewed Paradox Interactive's CEO and asks a lot of the hard questions and discussions that are so hardly asked in interviews with game developers/publishers.  Granted Paradox doesn't create MMOs and I know a lot of ESO fans don't like AJ but there is no denying that he isn't afraid to throw a BS flag during an interview.  This a good video to watch because it shows some insight into the game industry and how and why games are released buggy, about patches, DLC, and monetization in general.

    Yeah, I've seen that. I watched it as it was released.

    I love Paradox as a developer and their games - especially EU4.

    I still hate their DLC policy (Joe points this out too), but since their games are great value for money (hours/£ ratio) and it's not a "massive company" like EA, I suck it up.

     

    On a more personal note, I've become quite a fan of AngryJoe show.

    I thought at first glance the dude was just trolling around, but scratching the surface - and actually trying to watch several of his reviews - I feel he actually voices out loud many of my opinions, and to an extent we have similar tastes in games. Plus he adds a dose of humour to the equation making it an all around great show to watch.

     

    More on topic, running a business is tough, and you have to make many crap decisions like letting people go, releasing buggy games, etc. because money doesn't grow on trees and the flow can stop at some point (and you don't want to go over budget without someone cashing in).

    It was good to hear them answer some tough questions, and they did well in explaining and taking responsibility.

    Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

    Yeh I think I have started watching more and more of his stuff and I must say he has a great format with some down right hilarious bits that makes his presentations fun to watch.  He also really looks at the whole aspect of the game or whatever he is talking about to keep it mostly objective.  Does he show any bias in some of his reviews/videos?  Maybe a little but overall he does a better job than most youtube reviewers and keeps things well rounded by making sure to point out the good and the bad.  Not to mention the video I linked in the OP has given me even more respect for both him and Paradox.
