Does anyone think any of the projects to bring back City of Heroes will succeed ? City of Titans, Valiance Online , or Heroes and Villians. I also seem to remember that last year there were talks with NCsoft about getting origional City of Heroes back.

I'd certainly like to think so.
No MMO is perfect, and the lack of depth in CoX offered in other/earlier MMOs always left me a little wanting.
But since the game died with the introduction of player generated content and the community disappearing from the world in search of the best way to PL, I've been wanting CoX back badly.
Out of all the characters I've played that I grew attached to, I pine for my healer in CoH the most.
I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.
No. CoH is dead and done, never to rise again.
However! Do not fret young gamer! There are 3 or 4 "spiritual successors" in the works right now. NONE of them will be City of Heroes reincarnated.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
City of Titans? maybe? someday?
I do hope they do add a bit more variety in the instances. Having the same 10-12 rooms mixed around per tier did get a bit old. That was my one gripe with CoH, dungeons being a tad repetitive.
Loved my claws (ok he was a wolverine clone) and my miniature human torch.
Pretty much this.

Not necessarily true. There are folks in talks with NCsoft on this. It's not over until I hear from them that it's over.
Those are my thoughts too, MikeB.
Though I have to admit that the flame of hope is burning very low. I'm not holding my breath.
Even if City of Heroes were to come back in its old form, 90% of its player base is gone, scattered to the winds by NCSoft. And it'll have a very hard time drawing in new players with its dated graphics and age.
The only blessing it would have would be that it would be under the management of a company that doesn't care if it isn't highly profitable or not.

I don't want CoH to come back but I would like to see a new and improved CoH clone.

I like PvP but I could not understand why they added it to CoH. It felt like an after thought addition with little relevance to the rest of the game. It didn't do anything to hurt the game though, just a waste of time they could've better spent on other areas of the game.
There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own.

As much as I'd like to see CoH come back online, I just do not think it will. NCSoft had plenty of chances before to "sell the IP" and never took them. I am not sure what would have changed.
However, you know us gamers, Mike. Give is a sliver of hope and we can make it a crusade

I would like some form of CoH itself if possible. I found the original setting and characters to be much better for a MMORPG than most pre-existing IPs that developers shoehorn in. That and it's the only MMORPG I've ever played where I enjoyed the combat (and my storm/power defender was Evil(TM) in combat).
That's 180 degrees from what I felt about CoH. As a low level I always felt terribly squishy and at best working as a grunt, battling gangs and such. Most big league bad guys weren't even around. It was only at the high levels that I felt superheroic. I could go through most minions with ease, without pausing for breath, and when there were hard enemies, they felt bad ass, and beating them was satisfying.
As for the topic at hand, I think that the main question is not whether these games will arrive, but what they will be like and whether they'd stick around.
Yeah, at the higher levels you started to face the Malta group, Knives of Artemis, the Carnival of Shadows and Rularuu, which were in a whole different league from the Skulls, Hellions and Family.
Not to mention... Hamidon!
