Hello all,
I was thinking about checking out FFXIV AAR for fun. I like that the devs decided to do an entire remake and it has has enough time to mature. Is the collector's edition worth the price to get the mount and armour? I'm really only interested in actual functionality and value. Also I heard there's some free time for all until 3/9 and I'm wondering if this is for completely new accounts as well.
Also if there's any advice on best servers for an NA player I would appreciate it. I'm a fan of PvP if that makes a difference. I have some research to do obviously but any input is nice. I didn't really find a game forum for Square Enix so if there's an unofficial place where players communicate I'd appreciate hearing about it.
Regards,
Mo

great game but i dont think the mount/items are worth the extra cash. the mount isnt any faster however its the only way to get that mount. the other armor you outlevel quite quickly i think
If you like PvP I wouldnt touch it. But if you enjoy challenging PvE I'd say go for it, especially if you plan to play casually. It has a different atmosphere than most MMOs, and is more laid back and the story quest are actually pretty entertaining/well-written. I initially subbed and planned to play very casually but once I hit 50 I hit the brick wall pretty fast. Redoing the same content over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again got pretty stale. Literally, there are three different versions of the same trail that you have to complete.
So I'd say, if you do plan to play, take it slooooooow.
But then again this might all be remedied when the xpac is released in a month or so.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
If you are going to be PVP focused this game will not be for you. The queues are long and most people play FFXIV for the PVE with an after thought on PVP.
I will say the game itself is a very good game.
