Amazingly enough,  I can't wait to play this on a console simply because of the sweet purity that is the absence of add ons.

Why is it that some players just can't see why some things get developed the way they do ?

Most of the things that is considered missing in ESO is so by design to make it a better game, and It really does that aswell..It lets you focus more on gameplay than if someone's buff has run out, can't really Believe that there is players that wich to have a game that plays flawlessly for you...

Some mods ...sure are harmless ..mods that sort inventory or helps with auctions etc, but It never ends there..

Using some mods is basically cheating, since you override many functions of the real game and get information faster than you could react to on your own, it gives you an unfair advantage to players that doesn't use mods and in the long run it also forces other players to use mods aswell, just to be in the same ballpark..and It should NOT be this way.

Yeah I was shocked when I didn't see it listed. His Toolbar addon alone is worth it.

I also recommend Greymind Quickslot Bar for those that don't like the "wheel" UI.

I use Minion to handle all my mod update needs. I'm currently running 16 mods!image

EDIT: I see in the first screenshot that OP does in fact use Wykkyd Gaming Suite. But no shoutout?

To you and shadowplague, speak for yourselves. God knows how many people prefer PC gaming due to the mod community. I love mods that enhance the UI or gameplay to my liking, but don't give unfair advantages in combat. Everybody has a different opinion of what is good and bad so mods allow a broader audience to enjoy a game. Thats a good thing. A plague would be forcing everyone to like the exact same thing.

Totally agree with you. That customizable info strip you can put at the top is just awesome. It barely takes up any of the UI and isn't intrusive at all.

Why not try a few then, I could give you some suggestions of the ones I have and they are really easy to install:

    Just go here: http://www.esoui.com/addons.php

Install the Minion AddOn manager beta.

    Then try these:

    Skyshards

    AwesomeGuildStore

    SWAPS-Swap Skills for Update 6

    Srendarr

    Master Merchant

    Lore Books

    AI Research Grid

    Item Condition Alert

    Zolan's Chat Notifications

    Wykkyd's Quest Tracker

    Wykkyd's Framework

    Inventory Grid View

None of these are that UI obtrusive with numbers floating all over the screen and you can disable or delete any that you have. Just drop it after downloading and hitting the Extract All then browse folders to the DocumentsFolder/ElderScrollsOnline/Live/AddOns and thats it :-). All are configurable in the Settings Option in game.

No they aren't, Addons allows the player the freedom to customize and track or do things that allows the developer of the game to free up valuable time for content or other higher priority systems.  If you don;t like em, then don't use em!  Simple as that!

Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

I agree, add-ons make games fun, and interesting I don't want to be playing the same COD with the same interface that everyone else has. I like the freedom not only because it looks better but, for the simple fact that if you are playing a game like Aion or some other PvP focused game you will need a custom UI to properly layout your skills. Now Aion didn't allow these which made it suck but in many games you simply need a flexible user interface.

    Lets all be honest here.

This game is just barely holding on right now. We got a major patch with zero new content. Just tweaks. Anyone who is hanging on right now is rooting for the game to succeed.

Let the UI be something that addon makers do for free (because we like to) and let the remaining staff (you did read about the layoffs?) concentrate on content and keeping the game alive.

The debate over addons is irrelevent if the game goes under.

You like addons? fine use them, you dont? dont use them but for Zeni to devote any time and resources to the UI at this point is misplaced.

I'm just barely playing. I can only run the same things so many times and the champion system is a BORING time sink.

Let them work on some real content so maybe in the future we will still have an ESO to play.

lol whatever. The 3 guilds I am in would disagree.  The game has gotten much better and the community seems quite alive to me.

The Champion System is supposed to be something that just sits there in the background, slowly accumulating beneficial passives while you play the actual game.

If you see it as a game of maxing the CPs and focus on that, of course it's going to be bloody boring - just like all other mindless grinding can be.

If you've seen everything and done everything and the emergent game play part of the game, AVA, doesn't interest you, maybe it's just time for you to move on or take a break.

You're just projecting your own boredom and burn out onto the game. There are thousands of people enjoying what you apparently can't enjoy any more. If I were in your shoes, I'd look for something else to do.

Addons (most of) are the way PC users defend from Console oriented UIs.

As nice as these seem, would probably bet, that they wont work as is - considering they wont be updated for the new patch yet.

You are joking right? Every one of these addons were updated and working way before the update went in. Hate when people make statements like fact when they are clearly wrong.

I find add-ons come in useful at times, especially UI add-ons. However Add-ons tend to die when the creator of it leaves the game, sometimes they are picked up by someone else btu very rarly do they tend to be as good as they once were, and that is usually only for a short while.

Look at the last add-on mentioned, no longer updated but still works 100% (for now) it will die with an update that breaks it and wont be updated. That one should not have been mentioned in the list in my opinion.

Oh and is it 4 days to go before B2P comes into play??

i don't mind the kind of addons that are allowed in ESO, its the scripted ones that i think should not be allowed in mmo's

I disagree, if it can make it through 1.6 I don't see any update really breaking it. Plus even if it does one thing all of us addon freaks have is Garkin who is awesome and always helps with broken addons. In fact Joviex’s Addon Settings Transfer doesn't even show out of date with a little edit in the txt file.

Thanks to Garbrac to fix this, open the jovAST.txt file located in the Addon directory. Change the API version to 100011 and it'll no longer be a outdated version.

Other than that it is working as intended.

I don't really care for addons either, as long as the game lets me move the elements where I want them on the screen like SWTOR does, them I'm fine with the stock version.

what time does the game go free on the 17th!

In ESO you need an add-on to move the UI elements :P

    I'm not even joking.

I have never been a huge add-ons user. I like to move the ui elements around so they fit my need, I like the ability to change controls, so they fit my hands and fingers better.

But I have never played a game where I have used so many add-ons as here in ESO.

    I simply feel I lack basic information without them. I don't have a recipe book, I can't search the guildstore (AH), I can't move UI elements, I don't have a mini-map, I can't see what traits I have researched for my crafting....without an add-on.

I'm more used to the UI in games like SWTOR, EQ2, Final Fantasy: ARR, where you can move UI elements and make them bigger or smaller as you see fit. This is often enough for me.

At least the console-users will get a new, updated ui for their launch (tiny bit of sarcasm here).

Option 1 try and design the perfect interface for everyone at the sane time.

Option 2 allow the ui to be moddable and let users design their own much like all eso games.

    Il go with option 2, it's 2015.

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

I've Foundry tactical combat is the only add on I need for combat, these guys do a great job keeping it updated and its very customizable.

FTC has: buff & debuffs, scrolling combat text and health/stam/magica bars etc that can all be turned off or moved as separate modules, very professional.

Uh..no. Being able to customize my game with addons is a fantastic thing! Think of it as a free upgrade via the player population.
