I found an older article by accident on Steam statistics than mentioned 37% of games registered to Steam users are never played.

So how many games do you own (not just on Steam) but have not yet played?
Currently, I have 26 games on Steam and have not touched 3 of them. I'm not sure about boxed games or other digital games I bought.

None. I've never bought a game and not immediately played it. At least for an hour.
Same here. I bought Wasteland 2 (played that) and they gave me Wasteland 1 (have not touched that) as part of the bundle.
The other two are a bit older and I got them on a holiday sale, Joe Danger and Zero Gear.

Way too many.
Quite a few of them from Steam summer sales, or from Humble bundles (the latter has gotten me a few unplayed titles on my Origin account too) and some boxed games I just picked up somewhere or E-Bay'd.

Yeah I'm the type of person who only plays one or two games at a time. So if I find a game I really like, all other games get put on hold for months or even years. Before you know it, you have games you forgot you even own.

holy crap!
steam steam steam
don't even want to know
That's pretty much how I got most of my games. They'd have some insane sale on like a dozen or so games by a studio for the price of two games, so I'd buy the whole collection. That's how I ended up with piles of older id and 2K games.

None, I never buy games except MMORPG's, and I always play them.
Well, perhaps there is one exception, I bought the founders pack of AA, and played the alpha phase and set it aside for launch.
And never played it again, let my 3 months patron status expire without even reloading the client to my PC (a reimage removed the first one)
So that's about it,, and still don't have AA on the laptop.

Allot to amswer your question.
Of all the game I own all of them played while some might be played for a very short period of time...still played....
Even "bundle games" which often come from a specific developer I'll still will try them all......who knows I actually enjoy some of them.

I buy to play.
The older I get the harder it is to find time to play videogames period and if I'm focusing on a MMO I'm beyond screwed. Nothing else will get touched.
Also when I see games on sale I go nuts and add them to the stack of things to do. I'll pop them in and update them before tossing it back to the abyss.
If this question was how many games do you own that you never finished I'm in even more serious trouble lol.
The answer or me is 0. Now if the question was how many do you own that played for under an hour and hate, I would have a very large number to share.
I'm afraid I'm in EXACTLY the same boat as Merklynn.
I have over 200 (almost 300 I think?) games in my Steam library. Started MOST of them but certainly never finished most of them. And if I'm on an MMO that means I don't touch any other games for a while so they just stack and rack in there.
I almost miss the days where the only way to really get PC games was retail at a mall store. You either got what they had, or ordered something (if you even knew about it.) Simple and you could really enjoy what you got. Physical CDs or DVDs meant you probably weren't going to acquire a huge volume of games, at least not too quickly. I was almost HAPPIER when I had just one or two games and just focused on them.
Steam is THE DEVIL.
Anyway enough of my old gamer nostalgia.
A few, a times I buy a discount game that looks fun but never gets the time to play it.
CIV: Beyond earth did I buy at steam and officially didn't play it at all but I did play a hot seat game the weekend after I bought it at a friends place and it was far worse than what I hoped it would be. Can't say I feel for wasting my time on it.
I think I have around 50 unplayed steam games in a collection of about 130 games. Probably around 20 that I have played but have not yet finished or do not plan on finishing. Maybe 2 or 3 PS3 games I haven't played at all and probably 5 or 6 I just haven't finished.
I used to play my new purchases start to finish before picking up another game. That was before i was introduced to the PC, before open ended MMOs became my main game type, and before steam grew out of it's steaming pile of crap phases.
