Played from 1999 as an Erudite Necro, but it was the kurnak expac and the Iksars when my addiction climbed to new heights, I believe my Iksar Necro spent a year just in Veksar, the zone in was at the bottom of the Lake, in ill omen.

It was a Necro's wet dream off a zone(not purely that it was at a lakes bottom), I made a fortune there in goods and corpse retrieval services, maxed out normal leveling and then did 100,s of AA's there, in fact He is still in there to this day.

The Iksar was a lot slower to level but with his regen and lich line spells I never just dropped dead like I did with the Erudite because I wasn't paying full attention to life bar. Oh and Kurns Tower as a noob necro was also 100% awesome, if you knew the secret room on first level, to pull to.

I remember 30 level 1 Necromancers kiting Sand Giants around the Oasis of Marr. They were able to kill them before the Lifetap nerf.

  Everquest "spawned" many great memories for me.  A couple of my earliest, & fondest, are of near the very beginning:  one being at the bottom of the Kelethin lift nearest Crushbone & meeting a High Elf that was teaching the different languages in-game to other players.  I joined the group to learn & that helped cement my immersion into Everquest.

  Another social, perhaps unexpected, game feature was the, East Commons tunnels, I believe I'm remembering it correctly, WAY before the era of the Bizarre.  Finally leveling-up enough & with enough courage taking the journey via boat from Butcherblock to Freeport.  I always found the tunnels where many player characters gathered to barter of Everquest fascinating & entertaining of course.

Wow, my favorite memory? Well without going into too much detail for legal reasons Waaay back in beta testing, I was throwing spells around in an 'undisclosed city' (that had a lot of evil type elves around)  and while targeting other strange things (actually was targeting just about everything I could click on) I clicked on a window that was actually targetable, cast a spell and well, moments later the servers crashed, HARD.  So basically while doing the fun beta testing, doing the sort of things no one really thinks of, you know like "Hey, lets cast Charm on that bar stool" or "I wonder what would happen if I try to turn that doorway into a potted plant!" I found something that had it not been caught when it did, might have really been bad on release. Which sort of started my deep interest in beta testing.

One of my most memerable experiences was the first time entering Crushbone. Up until entering you would always see the trains people would pull in the kelethin getting away from the orcs.

I spent hours trying to pull single orcs trying to make my way to the king. The best part was that feeling when I finally was able to kill the king. Everyquest was the greatest game of its time, if memory serves me it was the late mid and late 90's when I played and there was nothing like it.

I stopped playing a little bit after plains of time came out because my computer went out. I have always wanted to play again but never had the opportunity to do so. Great great game, and happt anniversary Everquest.

Binding myself in HHP on my first char, a druid, and finding out to my agony I had bound on the spawn point of the guy who drops the PGT.  loading pls wait, you have entered high hold pass, loading please wait, you have entered high hold pass, loading please wait.

 

delete character and start over again.

 

Was a learning experience for sure :P

my favorite memory in EQ was it been my first MMO on dial up,  i remember starting as a wood elf ranger  an exploring the tree top city. not sure how things worked an lost so i tried asking a npc "which i thought were real players at the time" for help since i was new an they ignore me.

 

 

i thought man these guys are jerks, finally i made it down too the woods an saw a wolf sitting their looking at me it even said woof! i laughed then it started buffing me, i was wondering what was going on an he talking too me after that! only then i freak out as i learned he was a real player, good times.

My first encounter with Fippy Darkpaw, intense! Needless to say, there was a bit of corpse recovery trauma involved, but the whole experience was electrifying. Perpetual rain in Queynos hills,  guards kill-stealing beyond the Wall in the Halfling start area, and hundreds of Fire Beetles, dying beneath my trusty dagger, rolling on their backs with legs waving in the air...... ah yes, I remember it well ;-)

Oh the glory days of when MMO death had consequences and was an adventure in itself. Not that I'm complaining about how easy it is nowadays, but there is a certain nostalgia to the adrenaline rushes and grumpy corpse hunting trips.

In all honesty I don't remember much when I started playing EQ2, because I was 10. All I remember is that I loved it, and me and my family used to play it together on the weekends.

I was so new that I would only fight with all of my cool downs up. So after every fight I would run back to town and wait so I could use lay on hands again etc...

For me the most memorable part of my Everquest experience was probably it being my first experience truly joining and feeling apart of an online community.   To this day I still recall all the great times I had with my friends in Clan McEye and sharing the experience of exploring the world that was set before us.   I'd be lying if I didn't say that to this day I still browse through our old guildportal site to reminisce about the good old days and sorta recapture some of that magic we made together.

The memory that stands out most in EQ is the time I was trying to solo a rare mob on my paladin.  The mob was over half dead, and I was near death myself, I figured this would be a good time to use LoH... only to forget to target myself.  next thing I know I am still almost dead, but the mob has full health.  That is the kind of mistake you hope you only make once.

I was a a pvp player and I have fond memories of killing Naggy in SolA.  We would have to post guards and teams of players at the zone in because once the dragon popped rival guilds would rush in for the kill. Not only did you have to fight the Dragon you had to outsmart the Lighties who also wanted to kill the dragon.

There was a dynamic there that is gone now and I havent seen in another game. I think back and remember it fondly, but at the same time... I know at the time I wasnt thinking fondly of it. It may the the Definition of , it was the best of times it was the worst of times

This was my first MMO I had ever played, and I was just in awe when I started playing it.  My very first memory was after I made my toon and logged in a pc ran up ro me ,and I said"please don't kill me". They laughed and said this isn't the pvp server and I can't kill you, but here have these items, it will help you in your new journey.  I could go on and on about all of my awesome adventures, but to me the best memory of this game is meeting all of you, and having all kinds of fun adventuring.  There will never be a game that comes close to what EQ did.  Thank you all for the great memories.  LONG LIVE EQ.

Or walking through Quenos with my Ogre and having people crying for the guards ...It took me about 15 days to get the faction
