Dungeons have certainly changed a lot!

I am closing in on lvl 30, and so far every dungeon I've run is just a speed run.  There is no strategy or difficulty, as long as you know where to go.

Is this the case for all of the dungeons, or just the lower level ones?  I ask because I can see how much easier it is to level in the open game world at low levels, and wonder if the lower level dungeons got the same treatment.

Or is this just what dungeon running in WoW is now?

I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

It's what the dungeon running in WoW is right now. At max. level there will be exceptions, but everything before that is more or less a speed run if you join through group finder.

I've ran all of the dungeons up through the first raid in WoD. From what I can tell, strategy is mostly gone from the game, save for a handful of fights.

Yeah, game has changed a lot in 6 years. Must've been a pretty big "culture" shock to see it now lol.

I won't lie, the shock is ongoing and continual lol.

Thanks for the replies all!  At least I know what I'm in for now, I guess.

    Sort of :p

Levelling dungeons are a joke. Sadly this has been the case since wotlk. People now have heirlooms which are incredibly overpowered during the levelling process. What's even more sad is that max level dungeons are super easy too. The only thing that's not completely devoid of strategy are raids.

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

Yeah I've banged out about 40 levels in 5-6 hours in dungeons.  It's a damn shame.  I can't help but ask myself what I'm leveling at this rate to get to...other than level cap lol.

Some of the most fulfilling PvE in my gaming experience was done in WoW dungeons, but those days are clearly long gone.

Thats how i feel about all theme parks now.

As for wow in particular, if you dont want to raid at "endgame" then there is no point.

I've wiped quite a few times in cathedral because of the groups aggro, people get over zealous.. ha.

Dungeons aren't as easy as they were, prior to WoD I could take my heirloom tank and round up half the dungeon without a healer. Now I need a healer for 1-2 groups. I could imagine a non heirloom group having to take their time a bit. I run full enchanted heirlooms so my experience is different.

There was a point where these dungeons were easieri?!?!

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around that.  Tonight I went into a dungeon (I'm a resto druid) and our tank dropped out right as we got inside.  One of the DPSs said "fuck it lets see what happens."  You know what happened?

We 4-manned that shit without a tank.

I joined this go around because a buddy/coworker of mine wanted to run 2-man arenas.  I am just a little sad that WoW, which in it's earlier days was arguably kinda easy and dumbed down looks like insane mode compared to it's current incarnation.  I guess the trends really are headed to a more lobby game mentality.

Ya.. they are more or less washing their hands of the world content and small group content. I mean they were talking about working on world pvp and then we got Ashran.. with multi content features such as a PvE raid boss and limited time minigames! I went back into Ashran after almost 2 months away from it only to follow a group around for 2 hours and never have a pvp battle. The 2 factions circled around each other.

I have gone back to my old leveling grounds as I roll up in level in dungeons.  It is not quite as deserted as I expected, but considering I joined a "new player" server, I had small hopes there would be more activity.

I am honestly not even sure what Ashran is, but I'll tell you this, I was out when WOTLK came out lol.  WoW never seemed like a game that was good for open world pvp other than lowbie ganking anyway.  At least to me.

lol its a travesty, a child could tell you games are boring without challenge.  Looting is addictive though eh blizzard and bonus children can play it too.  win win for the shareholders, lets ignore the average playing age, we want moneyyyy.
