i have no question the game itself is good (i have some american friends who go to korea for biz regularly and they've told me a bit) but what i do wonder about is the monetization.
i'm not one who refuses to pay anything, in fact if i play a game for more than a few hours i'm happy to spend a couple bucks, but aeria has committed many p2w sins in the past.
I hope they do this good game justice and give it a fair monetization. i shouldnt feel required to spend money all the time. If i feel like spending 10-15 a month (as if i'd subbed) that's fine. gamble boxes for "necessary" items is not.

Omg..really ???!!!?? ..This game looks SO bad. Is there really anyone that likes oversized swords that doesnt even look like sword, and teenage Girls that carries these swords, It's just so ugly and redicoulous.
Can't understand how anyone can be happy about this, it looks as it is the same game released (several asian MMO's) over and over again..
Ohh Well..
tera makes over a million a month in sales in the US alone and they have oversized.. well, everything. some people like the art style, some don't. luckily games for both are out there. (and some like me like all art styles as long as they're rendered with attention to detail and polish)

I have played Aeria games before, this just looks exactly the same and typical of Asian type designs with over sized weapons, over sized gear.I don't mind the glowing animated texture thrown over weapons, but should also be done on gear or looks like a half finished game.
The reason why it is so tough for me to find a new game to get into is because i am spoiled by FFXI.ALL of these games use buildings with NO INSIDES ,so really cheap world builds.Yes another solo game with once in a while raids, yes i have already done this game design a million times before.
I won't become enthralled in a new mmo until i see it is COMPLETE,no more 2d structures.buildings with npc's standing in front of them.It was fun liek that a LONG time ago but now a days i expect more.
Like all of these games, you can find some FUN,maybe to stick it out 1-2 months, but then you will leave and forget it.I no longer FORCE myself to play games just to get max level, they have to be solid with depth and fun for a long time.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I find it funny, how people feel the need to complaina bout gender locking when mmorpgs are concerned, but not so for single player games.
How many people complain Link is always a boy? How many people complain you can't choose to be a "female" Kratos? How many people complain you can't be a female assassin in the Assassin's Creed games? How many people complain that Samus is a female? How many people complain that you can't be a male "Croft" in the Lara Croft games?
The answer is little to none. So astronomically little that you just plain don't even see those complaints unless you're specifically looking for them. So why then do people just love to complain when it comes to mmorpgs? It's a curious thing to watch.
I'm sorry, but this argument is really too stupid for words.
Gender locking is a budget-saving feature. A way to cut corners. Nothing more. It isn't a roleplaying feature. If anything, it harms a player's ability to play their role - in a genre that's all about identity.
Now, if this had been race locking, you'd at least have an argument, as races in fiction frequently are associated with unique magics and affinities.
Which brings me to a blunt point. The only legitimate roleplaying reason to ever include gender locking (in an online game that offers character creation) is for universes that have explicit gender-oriented powers - and these are really rare. Claymore and The Wheel of Time are among the only ones that immediately come to mind.

You know I remember when I heard someone advocate that Final Fantasy 7 killed role playing as a genre. I was a bit skeptical at the time but in retrospect I think he had a strong point.
Do kids these days really think role playing is about taking on characters someone else created and running them though scripted deterministic stories someone has written?
Edit: Also, only 5 classes and they're all race/gender locked? Are you kidding me? While I'm usually on board for about any MMO coming out of Asia that isn't ridiculously chibi I certainly wouldn't put up with that. Plenty of much better Korean games already available.

Yeah if it weren't for the reputation aeria game has than I would be hyped about this game. Unfortunately due to my past experience playing some of their games, I'm more than a little skeptical of how their cash shop will run.
Give it a shot, a lot of their recent releases have been a lot more friendly to players and EOS is no exception.
As for the gender lock, it's a shame but this game seems to bring a lot to the table considering it's rolling the F2P banner around.
EOS is insanely popular in Korea. It's even more popular than both Archeage and Tera combined. But don't be fooled into thinking this is the next L2. It's pretty much a wow clone with Instace raids and BG's at end game.
Granted, it's in front of Tera and AA (32nd and 34th), but that doesn't make it super popular just because it's in front of 2 other games that are (by my meagre knowledge) doing badly...it's just doing, em, less badly :P

Well, just to put this into perspective, 2 weeks ago World of Warcraft was ranked 28th in the same list while EoS was ranked 22nd.
I am neither for nor against EoS - just thought this ranking tidbit is interesting.

The Short and very sad answer is YES.
Indeed. They grew up on predetermined video game characters and weren't encouraged to create their own story, so the whole role-playing thing has different meaning to a lot of them.

People don't know what doing bad means.
If you look at the top 100 games its at 28 which is pretty good. If you look at mmos EOS is #12 which is also good.
No thanks, just another flashy graphics MMO that is vastly limited with classes and locked onto overly colorful action combat attacks.
As for those arguing what bad means above...popularity does not make a game good otherwise it means that LOL is the best game ever made...are you actually going to say that? Is LOL the best game ever? Is it? Is angry birds better than "enter any game here"? It did after all have more downloads than any PC or Console game ever made...

2 things you miss. Single player games are at best play and walk away from after 10-60hrs game play. With an MMO you are looking at an avatar for sometimes years. 2nd they picked making a mmoRPG not a single player console game. So I dont want to RP an woman, my wife does not want to RP a man. So that limits class selection. So ya, its a HUGE deal breaker.
You still haven't proven your point.
What does it matter if a game is 10-60 hours of play and walk away? Would it be different after 65 hours? How about 80?
So what if the avatar is being looked at for years? All I can see is someone growing tired of the "look" of the avatar. 200 hours? 1,000 hours?
your second point is "mmoRPG not a singleplayer console game" I suspect you were trying to be insulting fyi.
What about single player pc game? difference? What about pc games that move to console or vice versa?
Since people can "role play" in single player games (that is the only place I role play and it's more about taking on a role and having the character act in a certain way" I strongly suspect what you meant to say was that you didn't want to role play in public with strangers a character of the opposite sex?
