Yes, you guys will hit me up for being an asshole but whatever- I did what had to be done.
Since MMPORPG.com kept stopping our discussion it continued here where the lead develop[er of Greed Monger quit and is going to discuss things.

Yes it's official... I posted my farewell notice today. I'm ending all association with Greed Monger, ElectricCrow Games, and Jason Appleton... I tried Leaving 2 years ago and was threatened with a Lawsuit if I left so I stayed... Today I'm gone for good.
Here is the thread where we are talking in detail about GM:

Well, good luck in your next project, James. Hope it turns out to be a smoother road to travel.

There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein
"Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
I'm sure it will be without Appleton.
Wow, quite a story.
How anyone can promise an MMO made for 100K ?? You can hardly make a tech demo for 100.000 $ and certainly no complete MMO. even more if the guy heading the operation has no clue about game development.
Come over to the codex and ask. They dont want this conversation here but I thought members may be interested.
Official posting so you guys know this is real. http://www.greedmonger.com/forum/showthread.php?2055-Leaving-Greed-Monger&p=29901#post29901

I never implied that the engine was bad, but the market at the moment is just plain flooded with these indie MMOs that all look very similar.
We all told you to get out months ago. You're a nice guy and they threw you to the wolves. Glad you finally saw things for what they were. Best of luck.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
What a disaster! This is the reason I've never donated to a Kickstarter and probably never will. It's literally like playing the lottery, for the donator, and the one who's getting paid rofl.
Yeah, sure, maybe there's some games that have turned out well, that have had the opportunity to be created because of crowdfunding, but at the same time, there's not a single game that I'm playing that's only around because of crowdfunding right now, it's a lot easier to spend somebody else's money, than your own money.
If you're putting up your own money to fund your game, you're going to do your absolute best to make sure the game turns out good, I can't say the same for these Kickstarter games.

I mean seriously, imagine if somebody worked on this game during their free time, after work, spent their own money on the game, it would have a lot less drama and negativity behind it for one, you'd probably get a lot more people willing to help create the game, I mean idk, it just seems like a way better scenario imo.
I think everyone really likes James. For a game that probably garners more "hate" than anything else, its ironic that James is honestly really well liked . It says alot about james.
Now james can pursue his own goals and have the support of the community behind him instead of the clusterfuck hes been going through dealing with Appleton and the threat of lawsuits if he were to quit.
@greenreen
LOL this gonna be good
I have to say... I personally have backed quite a few kickstarters that have delivered some of the best games that I have played over the last few years. Games that mainstream publishers would never have delivered, from the tabletop to the PC.
This one case doesn't prove anything on it's own.
As a gamer I have been 'ripped off' by shitty misrepresented games all through my 'career'. I have a shelf full of games that are crap. Kickstarter is no different. To an extent, buying any game is a lottery, because developers, the gaming media, and fanboys lie. At least with KS though I get to put the power back in the hands of grassroots passion driven development.
I'm going to have to agree.
This is in no way a representation of KS as a whole. It IS a cautionary tale, however.
If you are interested in making a MMO maybe visit my page to get a free open source engine.
Believe me things are already in the works...
Jason and I talked this afternoon and between threats against me, MMOInteractive, and Rise of Heroes, we agreed to terms that will see to it that he get's everything needed for Last Friday's GM Release. I will be keeping ownership of my MMO Framework and my asset streaming and Terrain Paging Plugins.
My next moves on the GM front will be based on what Jason's next moves are...
As for my own Projects Joel and I will be registering MMOInteractive and pushing forward with a Prototype for Rise of Heroes. We will have more details soon.

I love the drama. It's very entertaining. thanks for sharing. I hope greed monger is dead now!
Proud MMORPG.com member since March 2004! Make PvE GREAT Again!
That Jason Appleton guy is an obvious Narcissist. With the capital "N" to denote that it is the personality disorder.
He's a complete bully and I am surprised a guy with an ounce of brains would work for a year with em, but the bullying and extreme manipulation are consistent the psychopathy.
Everything will be someone else's fault.
It's a fine engine for normal low-budget indie games. It however IS NOT a good engine for a MMO. Unity is the bane of quality mmos these days.
Ah well, it's just the next big (awful) platform people use for games these days.
To find an intelligent person in a PUG is not that rare, but to find a PUG made up of "all" intelligent people is one of the rarest phenomenons in the known universe.
