I just started playing THE WITCHER

I stopped playing my latest MMOG and was looking for another game. I discovered the WITCHER series ( 3 games-THE WITCHER,THE WITCHER 2 and THE WITCHER 3(which launches in May). I had played single player rpg's in the distant past and more recently ELDER SCROLLS-SKYRIM.

I read about the games and the sounded very interesting. I found THE WITCHER(enhanced version),and THE WITCHER 2(enhanced version) on sale on STEAM. Total price for both games was about $25-26. I thought I would play them and if I  like them...then I would buy THE WITCHER 3.

What sets THE WITCHER series apart from.say SKYRIM is that THE WITCHER games are heaviy story driven. Graphics are great too. TW 3 will be a bit different than 1 and 2 and be a very open world game(yes larger than SKYRIM). GW 3 graphics are cutting edge.Another feature of the games is that you are regularly forced to make in game decisions for your character. These decisions directly affect how your adventure progresses. Some parts of the world will open up, other will never open depending on your choices. This makes for great replay ability because of different choices you can make the 2nd or 3rd time around.

The online community have met at the games official forums are welcoming and helpful in answering questions.

My suggestion...look into the game(yes it is a single player game). You can find out all you want to know at the official website and hopefully more at this site. YOUTUBE is loaded with video's. The games have a hard core group of loyal followers.

The Witcher sucked. Don't waste your time on that game. The Witcher 2 was pretty awesome though. Witcher 3 i have no doubts will be even better.

I found the first 2 Witchers combat poor and the games were very linear. Not my cup of tea! ;) The next one looks good if you own a console to play it on, but I'm not going to play on PC until the price drops. The game forces you to play a premade character in an RPG which I dislike quite a bit. I should be able to create my toon and role play him through the world (which looks incredible). No matter what, good luck to you.

I'm a fan of the series.  One of the few singleplayer RPGs that deals with choices and consequences in a more realistic way.  Plus I love the character who is basically a medieval Jedi with grey morals, and the lore that the Polish author, Andrzej Sapkowski, created is just very gritty.  I actually read The Last Wish which will give some more back story for the first game, so I recommend that as well.

When I started to play the first game, I remember how deadpan the voice actor was for Geralt.  However, now I think his voice fits and I don't think the game would be the same without that dude doing the voice.  I hope one of these days Hollywood will do a decent movie version.  I tried watching the Polish movie and it was just awful.  I DO NOT recommend watching that lol.
