For those wanting that classic 99 EQ feel

I've been looking many years for a successor to my EQ playing experience, and I finally found a game I'd consider on par with it....The name of the MMO is called Minions of Mirth.

Pros:

1. Has that classic dropped into the world feel that EQ had

2. Has quests but isnt quest driven

3. Not easy mode MMO, especially early on

4. Has a death penalty

5. Has 16 classes and you can multiclass up to 3 classes

6. Can play as a monster class

7. Free to play up to level 15 (A decent trial basically)

8. 100 levels that isnt accomplished in a couple days

9. Graphics are old school but acceptable, probably playable even on older PCs

10. Many classes have an epic (EQ players will know what that means)

Cons:

1. Small Pop...It took me years to find it...They dont advertise...The pop is very friendly and helpful though

2. Premium is a one time charge of 30$...Compared to what I paid for EQ thats a bargain but it isnt free if you want to go past 15.

3. Basically a solo game until later on...Youll be on your own for awhile unless you know others joining.

Summary:

I'd recommend giving this a try if you loved early Everquest...It is about the only MMO I have found that has that same feeling....The gameplay is fun and challenging, something missing in many MMOs now.....Its a small download (250MB or so) and free to play early.

30 bucks for a 250 MB game with dated graphics? No thanks.

To clarify, there's better, and more specifically, free-er alternatives.

The thread is aimed at a very specific audience...Sure we can play alot of great graphics games now for free, but I havent played one yet that was like EQ......Also if yo uwant to go the "theres better games out there" then name some specific games.

Wow it looks just like EQ. Do the devs still give a damn about the game, unlike EQ?

Free-re is one of the major problems with the the genre and society as a whole.

It has a nice selection of classes and does some stuff i like but the graphics are just too dated. They could have easily got free textures to make it look better.

I watched some videos on you tube,i am sure i could have got into this back in the day but now i find nothing comes close to satisfying me like FFXI.MOM came out 2005 FFXI a bit earlier and although i have not played MOM i highly doubt it would come close to satisfying me like FFXI.

That's the problem i always see in gaming,if i want a Wow clone, ill take EQ2 anytime, then i have FFXI ,every other game that comes out just cannot compete for my money unless it is a way different beast that offers me something new.

My list that seems to never be matched.

    fps's Ut99+Quake

single player : Half Life series.

    Linear questing rpg's:EQ2

    Depth rpg:FFXI

SO what ends up happening is time to time i need a break and play some other games, but nothing holds my attention for very long.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Yeah I see this as a better fit for an EQ replacement than a FFXI replacement....To me the graphics are a little dated but very playable....To me gameplay>graphics but i know not everyone subscribes to that....Its not UO horrible or anything.

If you paid for it once then you're good to go...tis just a one time fee then your premium for life.....Youd probably have to remember the email it was on but other than that shouldnt be an issue getting your account back.
