I miss this game especially the humour and art. I am coming back. The last time I left due to shoulder and elbow ache. This time I still intend to use my multi button mouse but I am going to play without mouse turn. I know I am not going to be as good but let me see how it goes. Also looking for add on help that might help with the mouse turn but failing which am going to play using the side mouse buttons for skills and not use mouse turn and use the WASD and Q and E for strafe. Let me see how it goes just one month subscription is worth trying to go back to this game. I did love it so and I enjoyed it. I hope this will still allow me to heal in groups.
Wish me luck I guess.
I use the Razer Tartarus and it makes things so much easier. The thumb directional button is good for dodging stuff, all action buttons, map, inventory, and the "V" button to pickup everything are all configured on it. Just some food for thought.
Yes I saw that but I do not understand how it works. Does it replace my mouse then ? Is my normal keyboard still useable to chat ? How do I type letters to type in chat . Does this tartarus take over for all the skills and movement that my mosue is now doing I have a logitech G 600
Btw guys, if you play the game and want a better lfg tool, install and use GroupFinder addon, which enables the option to list premade groups in default WS lfg tool, just like in WoW.
Hey thanks! At this point every little bit helps. Perhaps mmorpg.com members will single handedly save WS! (I can hope anyway) /salute Salute
I stopped posting about Wildstar on MMORPG because it was pointless. Far too many people peruse these forums that want every game to fail. Therefore, I don't think a "revival" will come from here. To those interested in what the game is like, the 10 day trial will get your foot in the door, and you can see what it is like. Just know that the first couple levels should be treated like a tutorial, and the telegraphs you see there are nothing like the difficulty of telegraphs in raids.
The only, I will repeat for emphasis, THE ONLY part of the game that is "hardcore" is raids. Having said that, my guild is progressing through the last raid instance, Datascape, on a 2 day a week schedule. They are difficult, but you know why you fail each time. That doesn't make mistakes easier to correct, mind you, but it makes it less frustrating compared to wiping and you aren't sure why.
I like the humor, the art style doesn't bother me because I don't require realism. I have never RP'd in any game, but I find myself doing it more and more in Wildstar. Some reason it's fun being a race of humanoid rodents that are obsessed with science and explosions.
Well said on all your points! Well except my tongue in cheek comment on a WS savior from this site! I totally get where your coming from.
You sound like your in a good guild! Good luck on your raids!! Maybe if you guys can stream a few it may promote the game.
We have 5 or 6 members that stream every raid. Most notably, http://www.twitch.tv/nycterelis we raid on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:00pm PST - midnight, and actually just began throwing in an additional Sunday which is for farming the previous tier to finish gearing newer members, or filling holes while we learn the new content (to us).
As with most action combat games, I find that looking at the streams don't really do justice with what players have to think about since you have to be ready to react quickly to any number of mechanics. I love that aspect about the game, but understand that "twitch" action combat is not for everyone.

Yes all of the above. You just map keys from the keyboard to the Tartarus using the Razer software you can download. Example you can put the AWSD keys to the directional button to use for movement, but still use them for typing in chat with the keyboard. It's like a mirror of your keyboard but YOU get to select what keyboard keys go to each button. Here is a video of it being used in World of Warcraft that kind of explains it.
Okay I will look into that. If I can use all three I can keep my skills on my mouse and change my mouse turn movement to my left hand on the Tartarus and WASD and still use my normal keyboard to type in chat. This may actually work woot

Sweeet! I will for sure watch. I'm ok with watching and learning dungeons, not so much how people are fighting. I'm kind of thick in the head when it comes with remembering what mobs do! thank you again for the link
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Special note, the stream on Tuesday will be of the first boss of the last raid. We have been at it for a while as there are MANY facets to the fight. So you probably wont see many boss kills, but will see a fight that is most certainly a test for all roles.

Thanks Kaladin! I clicked on your link yesterday and left it on when no one was there. I just happened to be leaving and you guys started playing. I didn't get to see anything but linked it hoping someone else would get the chance to watch. I will try again when you posted the times.

Only thing (besides terrible lag) that bothered me at time was poor design choice to have only single toolbar for active spells. I just do not like button mashers. For same reason left TSW. Some day would like to return.

Well Sir, you better adapt to change because I think the streamlined combat using less buttons to play is going to be the new norm. In one way I can see where you believe it is fun having 20 or 30 buttons to look at, but you hardly will ever use that many. I think the idea behind it is that you are more involved with your surroundings with less to worry about on your keyboard...at least that's how I feel when I'm playing something like GW2. Also, the new wave of cross-platform games coming out they basically have to go this route. /shrug.

What I like is that it doesn't actually feel limiting. You have 8 ability slots, and probably 20+ useful abilities (very few complete throwaways). You have to think about, and coordinate with your team, what skills to bring before the encounter.
I use all 8 on every fight, and "rotations" are either complex, or non-existent. For me and my dps medic, my "rotation" depends entirely upon how much resources I have AND what abilities are off cool down. All of that can be a bit random so I have to react to what I have available to determine my rotation for the next 5-10 seconds. This puts a very high skill cap on personal performance.
I wouldn't write off a limited action set just because half the screen isn't taken up by buttons.

Started playing today. I forgot everything and I got my behind handed to me several times and I am slowly relearning the game.
I was wondering you see I had a Weaponsmith,Tailor and Technologist but I do not wish to play the other two characters who were the weaponsmith and technologist. So if I just played my tailor esper how bad is the auction house on the Euro server for prices ? Anyone have any idea whether I could survive buying my weapons and hoping for some salvageable drops for my power cores . This is kinda worrying me since if the prices are high I don't think I will be able to keep up. I was already broke from all the crafting from before.
I'm happy with the poor performance of the game because maye with this, NCSoft realises the Market is oversaturated with wowclones and start bringing more games like Lineage 1 which sill is their major money making machine being 15 years old.

You should be able to get enough power cores from salvaging gear. A Technologist would be able to help speed up the process, but it wouldn't be hard to do without. They are extraordinarily simple to make, and would be very cheap on the auction house, even the highest tier power cores aren't outrageous, but you wouldn't use those for leveling another craft. If you find yourself in a guild, somebody is likely to be a technologist and you could ask them for assistance if necessary.
As for prices on the EU auction house, I wouldn't be able to help with that unfortunately. But I cannot imagine they are too expensive at all since it costs next to nothing to make them. The best ones are found from salvaging though.

Crafting on your first character is going to be slow. Drops for mats aren't plentiful and extra stuff you need to buy can be expensive. I'd just play the game with dropped or bought gear for the first toon or two. After that, you can keep a character equipped with stuff you craft yourself.

haha, I did this a couple days ago. I just went ahead and started a new character so I could get the hang of the game and eventually I'm back on my main. If I don't play games for a while I struggle getting back into the groove. I don't know how many times I have wanted to play The Secret World and logged in, looked at the Ability Wheel for about 5 minutes and just quit!

I've been on a 2 month long Magical Mystery Tour of games. Trying several several that I had never tried, had tried a while back, or had played for a good while and had left. My observations for what they are worth:
The games that have a sub are far superior overall to the free to play ones. You get what you pay for.
I understand that some people can't afford a sub. Been there done that, but they are superior in overall quality.
I am new to Wildstar and abslutely LOVE this game. It is superior to everything I have tried during the MMT.
I understand the roll out was a big fail. Wasn't part of that so didn't effect me. The game itself is nothing short of brilliant in just about every way possible.
I love Archeage the game (the only F2P that was worth actually playing), but I hate Archeage the free to play model. The people that play Archeage are the worst in any MMO I have ever encountered. Why? Simple. It's FREE to play. They can create account after account and be as dickish as they want and cheat about as much as they want, with no consequence.
Please please PLEASE don't take WS to this biz model. It may add players, but it will ruin the game IMO.
I also don't think staying as is is going to work for it either. I think they seriously need to look at what ESO did with the B2P model. ESO is another very good game that had a terrible roll out. It is recovering because of that biz model yet not completely bringing in the F2P don't give a crap crowd.
One last thing, F2P inevitably is an enticement to the devs to slowly but surely go to a P2W situation. They may not start that way, but as time goes by the urge to make more money for the company gets stronger. Shareholders get antsier and want their stock to get bigger. B2P takes that edge off a great deal and let's the mall stay pretty much to vanities and such.
I feel quite silly I have been standing still and casting Telekinetic Strike and then I was checking each spell and noticed it said mobile. Hmm imagine that they actually changed it it was a stationary cast when I played. It pays to read and this time I am playing Dominion side too just so I can both sides .I will stick to the esper both sides I know boring aren't I .The only other class I liked was the spellslinger but the whole press R before you cast your spell to get more out of it just was not intuitive for me and the Medic I can never quite play it right.
Hopefully my pains are gone I seem to have loosened up a bit on my mouse grasp. I did not get the Tartarus or even the addon just playing with my G600 mouse and WASD .So far its alright.

Which must be why they didn't make a wow clone.
Similarities end at WoW and Wildstar being Themepark MMORPGs, and using a non-realistic art style.
