Agreed, although off-topic, but I would say absolutely nay to flying mounts as well, and to rely solely on player interdependence for fast travel.
It's already a small development team making the world; flying mounts shrink the world considerably while offering no game-play advantage other than convenience.
Pets and other fluff is a consequence of f2p. They need to make money, and the cheapest way is to create demand for vanity items. Also desperately trying to avoid the label of p2win, instead of selling content and items that are integrated into the game, adds to the fluff trend. On one hand I like that they try to avoid p2win, but on the other hand all the fluff is kindda empty.

While my stance on Vanity pets is a firm no, I don't mind Flying mounts, I enjoyed them in VG, BUT the game needs to be developed for them from the beginning, adding flying mounts into a game Ala WoW that was never designed for it in the first place kills the size of the world.

I want a succubus pet
...so that's how to post images
and not just in game.

Heck, if we include horses in the pet category, I would disapprove of those as well. Especially if they can out run the mobs in the area. I could see people just running past mobs not having a care in the world about them, and at the same time making the world feel much smaller than it is.
Actually, I'll slightly disagree on that.
People should be able to outrun mobs. How many movies or books have you read where the main characters would outrun their pursuers?
The issue is not them outrunning mobs, the issue is the "without a care in the world".
Make it so a player needs to weave and choose good paths, make it so they can be thrown from their horse if they are not good.
I suppose that's another topic of discussion though.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

To allow flying mounts would mean there would have to be similar dangers in the air as there would be on the ground. Otherwise its just another way to trivialize the game and results in a world that feels smaller.

I counter with, how many movies or books have you read where the mount dies putting them in harms way...

With the current pet talk going on this thread came to mind... Hopefully Kilsin convinced his team to stay away from vanity pets. I would also hope this would expand to include those pets that give you minor stats like 1% 2% gains. Who needs that clutter for such a small gain. Really I hope just a handful of classes get to summon or have a pet.
While I personally don't enjoy vanity pets, I can understand that others do.
It's not a feature that affects advancement or difficulty, and if collecting vanity pets makes someone else happy .....
This. As long as they can be hidden why would people want to impact the enjoyment of others just because they don't enjoy the same things? I say yay to vanity pets with the option to toggle the display of those pets.
I just wanted to ask what your plan was for pointless pets. In current games I play it seems that pets that follow people are out of control (digital cat lady syndrome lol). I totally understand if a certain class gets a pet if they charm an animal and it's useful in combat or something but nowadays you have this hoard of pointless pets that follow people around cluttering everything. It just looks ridiculous imo.
What do you guys think that are following this games development?
Pointless pets yay
Pointless pets nay
If it's pointless, it's a waste of time and money, if it's a utility it shouldn't be a permanent one. There should be risk to using them (they should be killable), this keeps the clutter down. Implementation is key.
In short; if it's like SWG? Great utility pets for pet based classes like a ranger, while offering lesser utility pets for everyone else. That's a plus... If it's like what we've seen in modern MMOs, simply vanity items that serve no purpose but clutter? No, I wouldn't want that.

Dullahan! This is not only hilarious but I cant like or agree with it enough. I too would prefer NO mounts of any sort. And pets only for a few actual pet classes. That's it.
