SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

The Dark Age of Camelot team has published the first-ever monthly update for the game and it is packed with all sorts of interesting information and links to what has been going on in the last month, as well as a peek ahead at what players can expect to see coming in the near future.

The letter starts off with a review of the spring festival, the most recent patch, Realmwar and contains a list of the game's Twitch stream team with links to archives of recently held events.

In addition, the Knights of the Round Table, an advisory panel of players whose job description will be changing over time. Knights will be running in-game events, participating in Q&A sessions and will become integral liaisons between the developers and the community.

Lastly, the team outlined what they are currently working on: Pathing adjustments, the beginning of a significant overhaul to the UI, a new account center and and a site overhaul.

Check out the full newsletter on the Dark Age of Camelot site.

i would love a new mmorpg in the same world of Dark Age of Camelot. This game is too clunky to even think about subbing for a month. I would give it a shot if it didnt have the subscription but knowing its EA behind it they would just ruin the hybrid model just like they did with Swtor.

I'll keep hoping for an mmorpg successor to this game developed with today's tech.

I'm glad to see Broadsword continuing he massive rehabilitation of this badly neglected gem. So much  EA neglect  and mismanagement makes for an overwhelming job.  I'll return when BROADSWORD  announces a total re-design of crafting  to make it the dominant item source in the game( as Camelot Unchained is doing).

Till then I have discovered THE WITCHER series and am rally enjoying the first game( THE WITCHER 3 comes out  in May)

I've recently decided to try single player rpgs again until the new wave of indie mmos are out.

I'll look into Witcher perhaps before Pillars. Likely will wait until more patches and content on PoA. Thanks for the tip.

I'm impressed to see DAoC getting attention.

I played it years ago, I think some sort of trial.  It wasn't bad.  I remember I liked the PVE and character progression system.  It was way better in my eyes, than some of the modern offerings at the time.

yeah im waiting for that game to launch but i think CU will be more PvP focused. The little bit i played from DaoC was only PvE. Not a fan of PvP

Absolutely loved the PvE progression until the last few levels forced group grinding.  The 1-42'ish experience was one of my fondest.  Sadly Camelot Unchained is destroying all vestiges of PvE to promote PvP.  HUGE MISTAKE!

Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

This was my fav game until the game went all 8v8 or stealth gank groups. Siege warfare was great. It still happens but only from certain TZ's. RIP DAOC for me.

Mistake for you, godsend for me.

15 a month is just to much for this game now. And hardly anyone plays it. I went back to check it out and saw maybe 4 players in 3 hours.

I loved the PvP in this game when I played it. I actually enjoyed the PvE which I am usually not a huge fan of. They really should try doing a graphics overhaul of the game and update a few other aspects as mentioned above the crafting needed help.

The foundation is already built for a great game but they wont draw in a lot of the younger MMO players with such dated graphics sadly.

I liked the realm vs. realm action of DAoC, but I actually had more fun on Gaheris back when the server was crowded. I wish Camelot Unchained would cater to the pve crowd also, because it looks like an interesting game, but not one where I want to donate to at this time.

I was sub'd for a month recently and what struck me as very different was the amount of radar and speed hacks being used in the BGs. Those that seemed to be using the hacks were the minority, but still. As much as I remember my time in the early 2000's playing DAoC it is not to the same game anymore at all. From what I saw Broadsword isn't doing the job I would expect them do... and that is monitor gameplay and stop abuses.

I won't use hacks and cheats in a MMORPG. Especially not to win, for then to me the win is meaningless.... and staying to compete with those who do cheat is totally un-enjoyable.

DAoC was to me both PvP goodness and PvE enjoyment... when I wanted to go PvP there was areas for that, when I wanted to PvE there was other seperate non-PvP areas for that as well. All within the same great Lore and Storyline. Camelot Unchained I think will do the memories of DAoC from years ago justice, but without the PvE portion CU just does not entice me.

I do hope Camelot Unchained is awesome though, for those who will play it. I wish the game and the Players well.

The old styled PvP MMO, thats what I like. At least the keep updating it once more, I think I am gonna try it out once more pretty soon. Still - graphics could be a bit more advanced in my opinion.

If only DAOC wasn't being run by EA/Broadword and Rob Denton now. Aka, the man responsible for killing Mythic.

That man is scum of the worst kind and I hope he doesn't get a cent.

EA blocked Jacobs from the auction to buy back DAoC, and shut down his idea for a classic origin server. This game is long dead.
