Back Playing

I recently decided to get back into playing my various MMO's.  Re-Downloaded DDO and LotRO first.  Granted being cheap like I am DDO is restrictive.  Lot's of old Dungeons I can do (once) again, but there are some that I never got around to before.  DDO has always been fun as a filler time game; do a dungeon once in a again thing.

Now as for LotRO.  I love the setting, used to play the snot out of it in the past, but ..... just can't get into it.  Won't say anymore, just not for now so I deleted it again.

And then I thought, why not give AoC another try.  I knew Conan from the movie, and after the game came out got into the books which I really enjoy.  Played and got up to 55 (really 40 something without those offline levels).  Great game and fun.  Enjoyed it, the setting, the mayhem and the dialogues (spoken or not).

Ended it finally because my comp just wasn't able to handle it.  I have to play windowed, smallest setting.  Low graphics and couldn't use combo's because of my system.  The game was fun, but restrictive.

Well I'm back.  It's still all of the above (still have the same system) but I'm enjoying it.  And with the exception of losing a character that was on Wic. I have no complaints.  Even bought the Jewel Coast Adventure Pack as I like that setting and I'm finding the Fields of the Dead to be a darn depressing sort of place.  :)

Sure it's an older game now.  But it still looks good (even on low though I lose out on REALLY seeing it) and it's quite busy.  Tortage is humming as always and I'm running into characters and groups left and right out in the Fields of the Dead so I really don't think it's dying yet.

It's a niche game and won't ever be MASSIVE but the stories are good and the combat system great.  While I'd love for FC to really put some effort into it ...... well even if they don't it's well worth playing.

I think the Achievements system has helped fill in the leveling zones as vets are doing those dungeons again with low level and new toons for the "purity" achievement of those quests. Hopefully this helps out you and other new/returning players enjoy the experience. The lack of being able to group while leveling has been an issue even in the recent past for those trying the game. Maybe it is time I finally levelled a DT - no a third barb, wait...another HOX...good times.

Yep, DT is cool (Dream Theater as well image), and to tank with it can be a real challenge. Even if not the main tank, it's fun to have a frontline fighter with dark powers...

AoC is awesome, love the new achievement system and the GW2esque "Vistas" to explore really beautiful game that looks amazing on Ultra.

and the combat is the best, combo system ftw

I should not have read this discussion.

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

Well as I've been playing my Tortage character of late I'll answer from that point of view.

    In a word ..... YES.

Lot's of players morning, noon and early evening (west coast time).  One of the nice things for the lower levels is you really don't see any LFG calls; instead you see others near the area / boss you're quested to do and just tag them and group up, picking up more players as you go along.
