The subscription isn't the reason I don't play Wildstar. I could say the same about ESO. I find subscription convenient. Even if I have 3 subs running it's half of a PC game price at release; so, it's cheaper than to buy a game per month.

The game is already B2P lol. I did buy it and it's a GREAT MMO. I don't play it now because I play WoW and there's no time for 2 MMOs, at least if you wanna to do progression raiding, but WS is almost as good.
The only bad thing about WS is that it still runs HORRIBLY bad on AMD CPUs. Think about 20 fps in demanding situations. I understand the FX series isn't that good for gaming, but 20 fps, eff that lol.
However if you just wanna quest alone or do dungeons, the FPS is usually 40-60. Just don't raid I guess.
I don't think Wildstars problems were really related to the subscription model used, so as to whether i would play if it went either B2P or F2P, the simple answer is no, tbh, same answer for ESO, and even though i already own a copy of ESO, the fact that it is now, in effect F2P (for those who already own the game this is the reality) that has in no way encouraged me to try the game again, i'll keep an eye on how the game progresses, but without some radical changes to classes and combat in the game, and given that Wildstars biggest hurdle for me was the art style of the game, i don't see either Wildstar or ESO appearing on my radar anytime soon
I missed the 12 dollar buy in on ESO before announcement so I grabbed Wildstar on clearance for 10 bucks and some gift cards in case it goes b2p. So that answers the question from my perspective.
But even if I wasn't playing ESO I wouldn't play Wildstar. My old WoW guild mates twisted my arm to get me to play WS and I caved. I lasted exactly 2 weeks (more like 3 days but I was down to less then an hour a day after the 3rd day before finally quitting in 2 weeks). I found the combat mind numbingly bad. I like the fact they tried to innovate but the constant use of the ground effects and the really dumb ideal to keep in tact the "Right Mouse Button Pressed to look" was the most stupid thing a company could do. You do not butcher action combat by forgoing the most important aspect of it by doing this to appease the tab target kiddies. Yes I know there addons that made it better but the blotches on the ground and the silliness of the game was too much for me. Plus it was space, and I am more of a fantasy guy.
Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!
Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!
Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!
I gave it another shot recently with the trial to see if I liked it better compared to the beta and nope. If im going to try it again its probably going to be in several years to see what changed again, that's if the game still exist by then.

Yeah, the right mouse button down to look is one of the most perplexing decisions they made for their psuedo action combat. They should have an option to turn it off (hopefully they do now, they didn't in beta).
What really killed the game for me was their complete lack of optimization. For a game with literally no textures, due to the stylized look, there is no excuse for it to run as poorly as it didn't when I tried it. I would maybe try the game again if they made a strong effort to optimize.
I left WildStar last year right after release because I couldn't play the game anymore due to acute medical problems with my hands, wrists, and lower arms that occurred due to playing the game. As soon as I stopped playing my symptoms diminished over a few weeks and then vanished. I have never had any problems like that while playing a PC game. (I don't play console games so for all I know I would have a problem with them).
For me it doesn't matter what funding system WildStar has, game is off the table for me. I liked the game but my body hated it.... quite literally.
I'm several years older than you and I found to avoid injuries while playing newer video games it's best not to use a pong controller. I use a Logitech G13 Gamepad and a Logitech G600 mouse to keybind a lot of buttons for easier access. In most games this is pretty helpful but WS has a more streamlined action bar than most. I'm not real sure where your injuries would have come from, but I hope the best for you!
Personally I love the combat in this game. Did you try playing the Warrior? If you think about coming back try playing it! Medic is probably my favorite class but it involves a lot more movement.
I really enjoyed the combat as well. Warrior is a lot of fun as as many of the other classes.
Specifically what I DON'T want to see is anymore of these AH centric the-developers-are-their-own-chinese-gold-sellers economic systems in which there are no meaningful rewards for actually playing and instead we're stuck with more nerfs to loot/rewards and the entire game has become nothing but a currency grind.
We don't need anymore of those in the PC MMO genre we have plenty of those Korean style games in which wallets determine the power and prestige rather than skill!
If they plan on doing something like that they can keep the game.
F2P or B2P no either way, I was a full closed beta tester for WS, not a bad game in on it self, but not my style of game, for me there was to many arrows and pointers trying to tell me where to go, and the world felt small and bland.
But in saying that if they go a new payment model hope all works out for the game and it's fans.
with the lack of any good sub games on the market right now, my playtime is hardly controlled by my budget. A free bad game is just as bad as a subbed bad game. Problem with wildstar... its BORING. I d rather spend my money on games in development and my time on the forums of said games.
I'd play it when it goes B2P and would certainly not play it when it goes F2P. Reason is I know how GMs are at NCWest when it comes to cheaters and goldselelrs and with the game being B2P there's a bit less of both than when it goes F2P. Chance is that I won't play it at all because the game itself is just downright bad (though I like the humor they used)
Well considering I only played Wildstar during a free-trial and didn't even last 3 days before I quit... I doubt I would play it again if it were F2P. The whole thing rubbed me the wrong way and I struggled to give it 3 days of play. Any game that painful isn't worth playing.

NO, ESO is my preferred game of choice now.

B2P: Absolutely not.
F2P: Maybe, probably not.

The ball is absolutely in their court about it.

Forgot it's published by NCSoft, so I'm changing both to:
Hell will freeze over multiple times before I'll even consider it.
