I think it will initially sell well on the console. Skyrim sold very well and so those same people and plus some will want to check out the latest "Elder Scrolls" game. However, once it's clear it's not Skyrim then I'm not sure if the game will maintain it's steam since ESO restricts what the player can do more than Skyrim just due to the fact of it being an MMO. I'm curious if ZOS will actually post official numbers for their console sales since they never did with the PC sales.
the game wasn't popular on pc so why the hell should it be on consoles? thats just pure stupidty.
Eso lacks all things it's more a singleplayer game then MMO then dungeons are soloable and nothing is hard , No raids and no content
In a way you have actually answered your own question. If you consider ESO to be a single player game then your best reference point is the last single player Elder Scrolls game. And as we know Skyrim - eventually - sold "lots". (20M or 27M - whatever; lots). Oblivion and Morrowind also sold well - albeit millions rather than mega-millions.
And console sales were a big part of those sales.
Key difference: TESO when it launched was a subscription game. Skyrim et. al. were b2p. And historically / as a general rule games with a sub sell "less well" than b2p games.
And put simply Zenimax have decided to return to the formula they used for previous ES. They now believe they will make more money by selling "lots" (as a b2p game) XB1+PS4 + follow on sales + DLC rather than keeping the sub and selling "less" copies + having a "few" subs. They have reworked their financial estimates.
Does that mean it will sell mega-millions? Probably not - the poor PC launch will probably have an impact. And it isn't a "normal" single player game of course. But still there are valid reasons for assuming that it will do well - especially over a period of several months. Remember the game is now b2p; it can sell in June and sell more copies (probably after SW BF has shifted some more XB1s and PS4s) over the holiday period and January sales. And if they get around to releasing some DLC they can have a Legendary edition next year.
I don't think it is going to be "easy" but as I say you have essentially answered your own question. Considered as a single player b2p game + extras there is no reason to assume it won't sell.

Lol. This reminds me of the Great First Person View Crisis of 2013.... much darma.... ZOS caved and reworked their FP view... out of hundreds of hours played, I think I've spent maybe 5 minutes in FP view...
So lobby them and throw tantrums - they have a track record of responding to that.
Meanwhile I suggest that gender benders that really get into RPing a character of the opposite sex continue to play on PC or take some voice lessons.
Why would I bother? Consoles are only good for their exclusives, and neither console has released anything even remotely worth purchasing either console for so far. I have no intention of playing on a console regardless, as I do not go out of my way to provide myself with gimped inferior versions of games. I'll enjoy my addons ( enjoy that glorious default console UI lol ), sweetfx, and superior resolutions thank you.
As for voice chat vs text, if you enjoy having to listen to every dipshit 12 year old in zone, that's great for you.
So you're not interested in the console at all but you felt a need to post about the lack of KB support, and spew shit about illiterates and 12 year old dipshits... thanks for sharing.
BTW....good screen name. Seems to suit you.

However, I still don't know why Zenimax/Bethesda is breaking apart it's player base on the PC and distributing it to consoles. I can see the big picture of money for the companies, but at the same time it's putting a noose around the neck of the PC side. A huge reason WS isn't doing well now even after all the fixes Carbine made, is it can't get players back, and without them mmo's fail.
I think there is enough of player base between the two platforms that it won't have to divide the communities.
Poor launch issues aside, I don't think the game is doing poorly on PC. The B2P transition could bring in a lot more PC players. With Skyrim selling really well on consoles that could help sell copies.
FF14 is said to be popular on consoles. I don't see why ESO wouldn't be.
I really hope this is the case! I will keep my fingers crossed.

This.
Skyrim's total PC sales after 2 years of release was only 14%. 80% of it sales were console (source).
Total sales 20 million. Only way to achieve numbers like that is to drop P2P.
Thats bollocks. That 14% is PHYSICAL BOX SALES (vgz which isnt that reliable in the first place) in FIRST WEEK.
That number has absolutely NO meaning on that 20 million. In fact i bet you PC Skyrim outsold console Skyrim by a nice margin. The thing with consoles is, what you sell in first week is pretty much it.
The longevity of Skyrim came from PC and modding.
Theve gone B2P because retention was abbysmal on PC, and it would be even worse on consoles.
They know they can earn more money from B2P+DLC+cash shop than sub, PC was testing ground.
I definitely think the console release will be a success at least in terms of box sales. Now that many of the kinks have been worked out of the game and with quite a few content patches this is a perfect time to join the game. I have considered transferring over myself. After playing Morrowind on the PC I got an Xbox copy and had a lot more fun.
For the people commenting on the state of the game, retention, sales and the b2p justification, where are you getting your data from? I would just like to see one definitive source dealing with any of these issues from the publisher or developer. Stating a fact without actual facts does not make it true. There might be people who try the game and don't like it, but I am sure they would also concede there is a very healthy and active population, at least for now.
In my own experience over the last 6 months the game has gotten far more populated, not less. Retention among the players within my guilds is close to 80% or better. In fact both my guilds have been at or near cap for nearly the entire duration. I am sure my experience would have been different if I had played the first 6 months but clearly ESO has turned a corner.
I know that some games in the past have switched revenue models to spur new interest but with ESO everything I have read points to a transition due to the console release and not because the game is "tanking".

I feel like it might do better on console coming out of the gate but I don't think in the long run it will do any better.
Look at one of the most popular games on console, Call of Duty. You get an audience for maybe 2 years, and then the next version of the game is released and the majority migrate. I get that ESO is not a fast paced shooter/lobby game but that is the majority of console games and what (in my experience I have not surveyed the entire community, so just my opinion here) console gamers like and want. I just do not see the long term investment of time from the console crew.
Now, I am not so young as to think things will never change, I am sure they will I am just not so sure that ESO is going to be the catalyst of that change.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.

Highest number of concurrent players on Steam 320,000 - from steam, easily verified
Total Skyrim units sold 20,270,000 - zenimax verified (as they said so at that time), also some other stuff like budget, number of people
Please, be my guest and post where did they get a breakdown for slaes from official sources.
they got 48h/week sales form vgchartz. And based their breakdown on THAT.

So they're as credible as the statements your making? Syrim sold more on PC than Consoles? LOL! I'll take that bet.

I found a statistic on your site that I believe is incorrect.

It'll take 5 mins. Or you can contact Zenimax, Bethesda and Steam that a site is lying about info. Statisticbrain is more than happy to remove incorrect info. They haven't got an agenda or anything.

They are not lying about the info. Info is TRUE for what it shows, PHYSICAL BOX sales in first week.
And for your PC notion, by vgchartz Skyrim has sold 18m boxes, of which 20% are PC till today (march 21st 2015 that is).
Now add all digital (MINIMUM 4m) for PC and thats for when Zenimax made the statement (its many more by now), it brings PC sales to AT LEAST: 35%
In meantime, box sales have dwindled greatly, >50% of ALL box sales were during first 2 months (2nd being hoilday season 2011), other 50% over next 3 years.
Wasnt eso meant to be the uber , massive , super-duper, all singing MMO on the pc that was putting everything else to shame... and how did that go?
what makes you think the console market will do any better given that console gamers like quick fix, quick action games generally, not forgetting how (imo) aweful the game is to begin with

Those platform percentage breakdowns are not taken from first 2 weeks of sale it's the total as of December 2013. Why do you keep picking the 2 week stat? Why not the sold in 48 hours or the first week stat?
Also, according to Amazon Skyrim is still in the top 20 games sold for Xbox 360 and PS3.
And according to the global sales of Skyrim in 2014 on vgchartz its;

And at the moment the game is incredibly active, every time I play there are people everywhere. I have no idea if it will do better on consoles, I certainly hope so because for some weird reason ZOS decided PS4 and XB1 players won't be on the same megaserver. So if it isn't a mega hit on two separate consoles, the worlds will be barren and players will bail rapidly.
If it was that popular, then why go to B2P? Wildstar still has yet to make an announcement of F2P or B2P. The game may have started off well, but they must have seen a need to do something drastic in order to pull people back in.
Everyone knows WIldstar tanked faster than you can say BOOM. Wildstar is probably the MMO that died the quickest. The reason why Wildstar hasn't announced F2P/B2P is probably because NCSoft will shut it down lol. Wildstar is so bad people wouldn't play it even if it was F2P.

It has nothing to do with me being shallow. Your hole argument hinges on a number you can't prove. In most cases ALL game sales dwindle drastically after release INCLUDING digital sales.
But for some unkown reason you think digital sales are exempt from the norm and have steadily stayed the same or increased.

When Zenimax release a number for number of Skyrim copies sold, those INCLUDE digital sales. Do we know how many are digital or box? Don't know but who cares, how you get your games. Consoles easily outsell PC every time for almost every major release. That's a fact which can't be disputed. I dont really care forwhats "easily" done. Were talking here about false claims. Claims that are so easy to check out, but nooooo, lets just be lazy and write random numbers.
And this is most accurate breakdown you can get, as of jan 2014 (consoles physical boxes):
XBOX: 7755
PS: 5304
PC: 20270-7755-5304= 7 211 000
or
7211/20270= 35,5 %
It sold over 1/3 of total sales.
based on vgchartz numbers.
Now i hope that bollocks 14% number wont be used again....
Oh yeah, try playing something thats actually worth playing on console, like PoE, or W2, or upcoming torment. Or lets say try mod ES game or F3 or F:NV on console. thats right.
Absolutely every ES person that I know absolutely despises TESO and they pray on new single/co-op player ES game from Bethesda
Nop, console launch won't change that. Of course, there will be a new spike of sales ... after all ... new platform and whatnot (multiple at that). Looking ~6 months after that ... you'll praise the megaserver tech because otherwise it would've been a ghost town. Kinda like most AvA campaigns atm
P.S: Did they implement a streaming client by now? You know ... like every other MMO on the market today xD

And no, im not making my mission in life to go correct every numbers anyone posts on the internetz, i dont really care unless people use it without informing themselves on the matter.
Where did i say anything about digital sales? Noone knows about digital sales unless you take vgchartz number of box sales and Zenimax number of total sales and use those.
Skyrim also tops sales charts whenever theres sale on Steam and is top 10 played game.
OTOH ESO managed to get in top 100 with B2P hype and Skyrim beats it by 10-15 times in peak daily users.
Now THOSE ARE numbers that are available to anyone and can be verified on Steam.
Please, be my guest and provide Zenmaxs official breakdown like its claimed (falsely) in this thread.
Statisticbrain cite Steam as a source for their data. Under Statistic Verification.
But it's not for us to prove anything. It's down to you to prove staisticbrain wrong. You won't make it your mission because you have no evidence what so ever to refute the 14%.
You've not proven the stat wrong. All you've proved is that sales numbers across all platforms have dwindled.
And just because you are so lazy and shallow (which you continued to prove again and again):
"Within two days of the game's launch, 3.4 million physical copies were sold. Of those sales, 59% were for the Xbox 360, 27% for the PS3, and 14% for the PC.[115]"
Im just glad inXile trademarked Van Buren. Nough said
And i dont really give a shit about any of that, what i do give a shit about is sloppy/lazy/agenda-ish people cite random internet numbrz as some kind of commandement.
And people believing companies share their confidential data to random interent sites. Who n turn make them public.
The only time that happens is where they want to make PR spin or have very big numbers.
ZOS wasnt ashamed to brag about having 5m accounts in beta. But since then....crickets. So no, neither Zenimax or Zenimax Online have any problem releasing numbers....in certain situations.

So you're not interested in the console at all but you felt a need to post about the lack of KB support, and spew shit about illiterates and 12 year old dipshits... thanks for sharing.
BTW....good screen name. Seems to suit you.

I really hope this is the case! I will keep my fingers crossed.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
I think it will do well on the consoles. It is very solo friendly and has a good amount of content.
The Elder Scrolls games have been on consoles going back. There should be a good size fan base built up.
If it does well, there will be more games like it headed for consoles in the future.
Redsalt... the other salt.

It does indeed include Steam sales. Look at the top of the page at sources. It states Bethesda Games Studios, STEAM, Zenimax.
If you think they're lying inform the proper authorities and have them correct it.
You mean, what "statistical police"? They are random people on internet posting numbers rofl
Where do people get notion that companies share their confidential data to random internet sites that in turn make them public.
So they're as credible as the statements your making? Syrim sold more on PC than Consoles? LOL! I'll take that bet.
EDIT: Taken from their FAQ;
I found a statistic on your site that I believe is incorrect.
Thank you! Statistics vary depending on the source, time of publication, and possible human error. If you believe you found a more up to date statistic than we currently have, please feel free to contact us.
Thats from vgchartz.
Pretty good. Still Amazon best seller.

Only two spots behind Wildstar. Not bad
You knew I had too
"If I offended you, you needed it" -Corey Taylor
Those platform percentage breakdowns are not taken from first 2 weeks of sale it's the total as of December 2013. Why do you keep picking the 2 week stat? Why not the sold in 48 hours or the first week stat?
Also, according to Amazon Skyrim is still in the top 20 games sold for Xbox 360 and PS3.
And according to the global sales of Skyrim in 2014 on vgchartz its;
Xbox360 - 558,960
Playstation 3 - 704,807
PC - 368,633.
Console versions are still easily out selling the PC versions.

Dude, you are soooooooo shallow, thats your problem. You dont want to inform yourself what youre actually looking at.
Just like you linking that 14% in every thread. Thats 14% stands there for couple of years now, since LAUNCH.
Man. I DONT pick first week YOU keep picking FIRST WEEK by linking those 14% without a clue what it is or represents.
Statisticbrain claims it includes Steam digital sales. Are they lying?
It has nothing to do with me being shallow. Your hole argument hinges on a number you can't prove. In most cases ALL game sales dwindle drastically after release INCLUDING digital sales.
But for some unkown reason you think digital sales are exempt from the norm and have steadily stayed the same or increased.
Steam DOES NOT RELEASE sales numbers. FFS, they DO NOT claim they include Steam sales ANYWHERE.
They use SAME numbers available to YOU and ME. their numbers are OUTDATET by up to 3 YEARS lol: Research Date: 12.19.2013

When Zenimax release a number for number of Skyrim copies sold, those INCLUDE digital sales. Do we know how many are digital or box? Don't know but who cares, how you get your games. Consoles easily outsell PC every time for almost every major release. That's a fact which can't be disputed. It was really funny to read all the jokes about the "PC masterrace" when so many games had a shitty launch on PC yet worked flawlessly on consoles. Mortal Kombat X - the PC master race was treated as a second class citizen AGAIN!
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
Please, be my guest and provide Zenmaxs official breakdown like its claimed (falsely) in this thread.
Or try to get decent UI without addons. Whoopsie
Mortal Combat....lol
Absolutely every ES person that I know absolutely despises TESO and they pray on new single/co-op player ES game from Bethesda
Nop, console launch won't change that. Of course, there will be a new spike of sales ... after all ... new platform and whatnot (multiple at that). Looking ~6 months after that ... you'll praise the megaserver tech because otherwise it would've been a ghost town. Kinda like most AvA campaigns atm
P.S: Did they implement a streaming client by now? You know ... like every other MMO on the market today xD
