This is a real question guys, I'm not trying to start any flame. I'm gonna put you in situation:
Started ESO when was released, by that time I was playing SWTOR by a lot, but I'm becomed a casual since 3 years playing the same game.
I do still PVP by a lot, but didn't find anything good. SWTOR good pugs has been evaporated, pvp feels like randoms vs randoms and after 2 years playing the game, i'm a "bit" bored for the same gameplay, need something new.
I never touched Cyrodiil, even at low lvl because I don't have any character maxed. I watched Deltia's streaming on Twitch, the pvp feels fun and really enjoyable, and that's is all I want.
Can you tell me how is the PVP in that game? And which classses or rather specs are the meta right now? My style it's more about close combat/fast action, if that means something. I'm more a "lonely" player, but I like a lot playing with groups, it's just a "time availability" thing.

Sounds like you're made for the Nightblade.
Deltia has a great build that he calls The Specter that is a traditional NB using Dual Wield and Bow.
Roll either a Khajiit or Wood Elf for the stealth passives. Level Dual Wield first and then pick up Bow at level 15.

I played PvP at release, with a low level character.
Even then, I quite enjoyed it. It delivered the feeling of a large scale fantasy combat, where you are one piece of a larger puzzle. The art style and setting complement that very well, making the PvP fit the game in my opinion.
In that respect, I found PvP great and a good addition to the game.
On the other hand (and this is a fairly uneducated guess), I feel there is less space for micro-management and "getting better at it", compared to some of the more traditional MMO games.
The pvp is great, make sure you enter the non-vet pvp campaigns though because they are a lot of fun. The main one is called Blackwater Blade.
All the classes are pretty good in the non-vet campaign, but I would say sorcerer and Dragon Knight are the best. Sorc have a couple of really strong spells for survivability/mobility and good burst, DKs have a handy aoe root and lots of other cool tricks.
Nightblade it's not good atm? I more a stealthy-rogue kind than spellcasters, didn't like magic at all.
Nightblade in the right hands is extremely good at the moment - any good stamina build is actually. Bcbully plays a NB and he did a PVP video a couple of weeks ago. You should have look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STwMnz7HPfc&feature=youtu.be

A year in Bid and I'm still making new builds and learning.
I am sure the PvP is great at lvl V14.. too bad I can't for the life of me stomach the grind to get there. I have a V7 and am taking the game in much smaller doses now. I just want to be on equal footing with other players at some point and IMO it takes much too long.
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
im in a similar boat, im v8 1 character, but its damn nice not having a 2 week journey to end game, 6 months in and a good couple months to go is a nice change, end game can wait a bit longer here
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
You don't need to be VR14 to PVP. All that being VR14 means is that you have no excuse for being bad
Just run in a pack if you feel under-powered.

Having played WOW in a PVP server (Emerald Dream) for many, many years and having spent many months in GW2 PVP, I couldn't disagree with you more. ESO is heads and shoulders above those two.
"Great" is in the eye of the beholder.

I really have to say that even if you're hesitant to get into the thick of it, there is so much to do with siege engines that you should definitely give it a try. Just hang back and throw up a ballista and fire down into the front lines. These do a lot of damage and can turn the tide of any battle.
I really started in PvP at VR12 and now after learning..i wish i had done this sooner.
All the classes are pretty good, and they all have OP abilities. ATM NB has a fear spell which is quite good. Another thing is all the classes are kind of spell casters, NB have a specific stealth skill which makes them more stealthy (can hide in plain sight for a few seconds)- but all classes can stealth when out of line of sight.
From my experience sorc and DKs are the strongest, they can be virtually unkillable even against many opponents and skill do lots of damage, I have only met one NB in the non-vet campaign that was able to do that, I have no idea how he achieved it- while nearly every sorc and DK that has their core class skills are extremely strong.
Note that the video above is a highly geared, high level player in the Vet campaign, you cannot one/two shot people like that in the non-vet campaign for various reasons. And I would expect you cannot use that playstyle for a long, long time in the vet campaign, you will probably just be on the receiving end of that kind of thing.
EDIT: let me amend some of that- a sorcerer can nearly two shot you in non-vet campaign while still being extremely tanky.
It's not the worst PvP out there, but it's halfassed, like everything in ESO.
Vet and non-Vet campains play completely different.
In the non vet campains it will feel like you are doing no damage yourself, but a fire ballista will oneshot (or close to it) anyone. There are normally always 2-3 skirmishes going on all over the place with raids trying to take or defend keeps, and doing so successfully. Much easier to get into.
When you enter vet for the first time you won't kill anyone, and get 1-2 shot by everyone. Unless it's a bigger push by several raids, the map is much more static. It's normally a back and forth between 2 ressourcenodes were both parties involved take turns in roflstomping each other. Ok when drunk or playing something ranged, tableflipping when melee and sober.
It gets better the closer you get to v14, it seems.
