Honestly, Grimrock being twitchy kills it for me. I play RPG's to relax, at a slow pace, often while multi-tasking. Twitch gameplay kills that for me.
Yeah, it's 'twitch', but not in the way that most think of the term. It's kind of a slow twitch, if that makes sense? It's not a game to multitask with though, and anyhow nor should you... It deserves your full attention.
Shadowrun Dragonfall is excellent, though a completely different kind of RPG.
Hmm, if it's not a "fast twitch" (isn't that a kind of muscle fiber?) game then I might be OK with it. I mean, how much reaction time and coordination does it take? The old fingers aren't what they used to be!
Basically it's twitchy in that you have to dance around enemies, preferably in a square pattern as you need to dance in to attack and dance out to avoid damage. Also if you have any spellcasters in your party you have to select their spell by pushing in a combinations of runes on a nine tile grid. It's not as twitchy as say a first person shooter but the focus is on movement in real time to avoid damage rather than tank/heal/CC through it. You won't be able to multitask it. You can probably handle it though. I'm handicapped with a nerve disorder and got through both LoG titles fine. Enemies don't instantly move so a lot of the time it's just getting into a rhythm and not cornering yourself.
I personally really enjoyed MMX apart from a lackluster final boss sequence. If you think you'll enjoy it though I would vote for SR Dragonfall. I'm a big fan of Harebrained's efforts so far and am looking forward to Shadowrun : Hong Kong later this year.
If you want another fantasy RPG option I would vote Divinity : Original Sin if you haven't played that. Might have to wait on a sale for that though as it's a little pricier than your other options.
Calling LoG twitchy is a huge exaggeration. People saying LoG is twitchy should better stay with games like chess (nothing bad about chess though ). LoG is no FPS or RTS.
Personally I liked LoG I much more than M&M X which was a huge let down for me. You can get both for around 5 $ so just watch some youtube video and try them ? LoG II costs a little more but that should also give you a clue about the value of M&M X compared to LoG games.
If you really want to play a M&M game, try M&M 6. Much better than M&M X imo.
Which would you guys recommend I pick up next on Steam, Legend of Grimrock or Might & Magic X? I know it's apples and oranges, but I'm interested in both. Grimrock is $15, M&M is $25. Wife will only allow one game at a time!
Thanks!
Grimrock is a much better game in general. I didn't like the gameplay and graphic in M&M X at all. Grimrock is one of the best game out there while M&M X feels like a mediocre game. Grimrock has also receive quite good score from reviews and players.

Hell, maybe I'll get Shadowrun: Dragon Fall Director's Cut. Might be a good compromise between the two. I think it's $15 on Steam. Any thoughts on that one?
I liked the graphic in shadowrun. However the gameplay is the weakest point in that game. It's a simplyfied xcom game.
MMX is okay, but you're pretty much required to min / max your party to get anywhere. For example, ranged characters are a waste of time. Given the crap damage they do, you're better off with another spellcaster... for that matter, you need at least two casters in your party, the more the better. But only of certain schools, because some schools are useless, while others are overpowered.
I guess in short it's still a decent game, but it isn't balanced worth a damn, and Ubisoft has abandoned it. It's a real shame, because a lot of issues could be fixed with relative ease.
LoG got everything right except the twitch combat, which I'm not a fan of. I admit it does help you make up for any inadequacies of the party you made, if you get good at it.
Go LoG, or better yet LoG2.
Oh man, the combat in Grimrock is twitch? That seems totally out of place in a classic style dungeon crawler.
Was M&M abandoned as a buggy mess, or is it a complete, stable game?
I had no trouble with bugs.. andf its hogwash that some classes are not useful as i have completed the game with several dufferent party builds and was fun with all of them ..of course some are easier than others and require more thought and planning ...
And another note , they didnt abandon M+M X as others would like to word it .. No more than other devs abandon games when they are done( was LoG abandon .. no they moved onto LOG2) ... Game is very playable complete and has an expansion .. They moved onto other projects now ...

Hmm... LoG had very few bugs. At least I didn't notice any bugs at all during my 30h+ gameplay from start to finish. It is one of the most stable and fun games I have played.

Pros:
Captures everything that's fun about old-school RPGs; some fantastic puzzles; atmosphere is great at generating tension.
