    Well... I hope the devs put more work into making a game than he did typing up a review lol.

    Ahhh all the emo anime fanboi's got their panties ruffled by someone who doesn't agree with them. Every review of everything is nothing more than the opinion of the person reviewing it. Its why you can go to metacritic and see scores across the board from low to high on everything that has ever been reviewed. They don't have to "be respectful" of fans points of view just so someone doesn't get upset and cry. They take their experience with prior products of similar nature, in this case a game, and review it given that experience and how it compares to others.

    I personally detest anime and have no problem saying so. If this reviewer gushed on and on and about his love for this anime series, would I have discounted and not read his review just because his opinion was different than mine? Nope because I'm an adult who has the capacity to not take things on the internet that I disagree with to heart like a personal affront to my childhood. There are glimmers of truth in everything both positive and negative, so its worth reading every opinion on a piece. The funny thing is growing up the knock on anime fans is they were always whiny and emo, and low and behold as soon as someone disagrees with their point of view in a review, they gather the pitchforks and fire to lynch the reviewer. Guess some things never change.

    This review is really unprofessional. It's like the reviewer attempted to review not only the game One Piece Online, but also the whole genre, and gave low score because he doesn't think this type of IPs/games can ever be as good as his favourite type of IPs/games are.

    A paid reviewer should be more objective.

    Yep, it's amusing to see those comments :) Agree on the second part, I too never understood why can't folks stay objective on forums, or handling opinions on their right places.

    Actually that's the only point I disagree, and also with Beau's "how insulting, sexist and non-funny (at worst) it often is" part. Anime is a very wide genre, with truckload of sub-genres, what Beau and you mentioned (with the whiny emos and sexist jokes) are just a smaller chunk of anime as a whole. Just for the record :)

    Besides that I agree with the review. Funny thing is, I just posted in the Scarlet Blade necro-thread how this "auto-everything" crap is spreading like wildfire, and put HL's OnePiece video as an example... and now it's a review too, saying the very same thing :) Beau's title is "Let's just say it's not good", while I think it should be "Let's just say it's not even a game".

    But of course it's also just an opinion, maybe I just don't understand this generation anymore. I mean playing a "game" which is playing itself is not that far from the whole "twitchy-eyed" thing, which is also huge nowadays... I know a kid who is watching minecraft videos every day for hours, instead of playing it and building stuff for himself. When I asked about it he said playing is boring, watching as others play is fun. image  So I can imagine there's a target audience for this Piece of sh... One.

    (oh, and I know it's not nice to keep kicking the one who is already down, but yep, I too agree that the anime OnePiece is a pis... errr... Piece-poor One, regardless of the reader / viewer count and the popularity. And it's an opinion, before those fanbois start to rage again image)

    and how did you came up with that?

    if i get it right, one piece ain't even among the most 10 watched animes.

    ps: recap of a normal "non boss fight" one piece episode:

    * 1 mins story bout gold roger the kiiing of pirates and his sooo famous trasure (which i actually think they never found or even looked for)

    * 1 min one piece opening music

    * approach new isle

    * disover isle

    * watch nami

    * go to next isle

    yep, no idea how anyone could find that boring :)

    "I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"

    @Thane: Maybe on a per episode basis One Piece isn't the most watched, but it's got ~700 bloody episodes, it's been running for a long, long time!

    @Raagnarz: If someone acts as an overly 'fanboy', sure it's get the same treatment as someone who's overly negative. The problem isn't being critical, you can tear my favorite anime/rpg/book/series to shreds, but do it on the points. Not on attacking folks choice to consume something.

    It doesn't matter how watched a show is, that doesn't make it not boring to someone. I feel like a lot of the kids anime tends to be extremely boring, Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, they go forever 400+ episodes and half tend to just be filler.

    That's probably because you're ten years too old for them.

    Shouldn't anyone that watches them from the beginning be around this age anyways? They can't be catering to a new generation of watchers without having some sort of new series coming out like Pokemon did. I can see it happening in Japan but not many other places. Most people I know who watch those shows tend to be anywhere from 20 to 30.

    Ok whenever they take brand names and turn them into MMOs I expect the game to be cheap.

    But here is a question for something I don't understand.

    The game was made for fans of the show who will be more forgiving about flaws in gameplay.

    So why is a hater of the show writing the review for this game?

    I think age can be varied, it's more like the quality :) Personally I still like DB, and still think DB:Z is just meh (I wasn't a big fan when first saw that, either, so it's not because of the age - at least in my case)

    Also it's a bit odd that everyone puts an '=' sign between anime and those fairly average titles... true, I don't know how's the airing over there in the US, but it really is a one-sided view. It's like one is saying movies in the west are dumb, over-effected visual orgies without any sense or logic or decent writing - just because s/he saw a couple Michael Bay flicks image

    Those series are only a smaller part of anime. Maybe a popular part among the kidz, maybe it's more up-front and visible over there, still only a smaller part. (heck, I sound like a fanboi too... I don't even favor anime over other genres, I'm just a movie buff)

    To be blunt, when you put that is like the anime and is 'boring' I feel a huge amount of bias being injected against the game already. Granted I'm not going to say I think they game is good (I'm sure it is pretty terrible) but it just really seems to be a jab at the game before you get to the review and makes me think your going to view it even more negatively and make it harder for your review to be very good.

    I mean... at the very least you didn't go on about not having played it and then discussing politics consuming some fancy food and talking about how its stupid just pressing buttons like all games, but still the comment gives a vibe that your going to unleash personal bias against it and likely lash out on it more then if you hadn't a clue about what the series was.

    To be clear... I personally don't like one piece myself and as far as I can see the game looks pretty bleh, but for the sake of giving a good objective view it does make it feel sketchy to trust in what is said for some parts of the review.

    Expecting a browser base game to be decent is like expecting to automatically win the lotto every time you pick the numbers. Its just not going to happen. The only exception to this rule is Runescape because it isnt a true browser based game anymore it is a MMO using Java as its graphics engine. Personally when I see that the game is going to be browser based I dont even bother trying it out. If I wanted to play a browser based game I would play the games that Facebook has to offer.

    "Possibly we humans can exist without actually having to fight. But many of us have chosen to fight. For what reason? To protect something? Protect what? Ourselves? The future? If we kill people to protect ourselves and this future, then what sort of future is it, and what will we have become? There is no future for those who have died. And what of those who did the killing? Is happiness to be found in a future that is grasped with blood stained hands? Is that the truth?"
