Which new payment model is this? Where can I find details about it?
Speculation based on removal of boxes from stores, some focusing on wardrobe and pets which is a mainstay of F2P/B2P monetization and apparently still low populations.
I played at release and tried again a few months ago but still isn't at where it needs to be for most people to give it a true shot. I think it needs a B2P model and some sort of expansion/progression reset so people can get into the game without having to slog to catch up.
Drop 5 kind of concludes what should have been in-game from the beginning, to me. They've removed attunement and 40 man raids, added dungeons and solo-instances, improved stability, improved PvP variety, fixed a lot of bugs (drop 3), and now added some vanity options.
Finally, some bells-and-whistles; however, I don't see Drop 5 drastically changing the population in the amount the game needs.
I'd highly suspect Drop 6 to include some movements towards B2P or F2P, especially given the sale of retail boxes for in-game items. It's basically a way to "test" how much and how many people would be willing to spend extra money for vanity items. Drop 6 will likely happen towards the beginning of Fall/Q3. If the newest financial reports don't show massive improvements for Wildstar, I'd anticipate F2P before the end of 2015, or shutdown before the end of 2016 (given NCSoft's track record with TR, CoH, and AA).
ncsoft will push the title to f2p by end of year once their profit reports come in its why the games been kinda quiet on the publicity end. the game needs and frankly deserves it.....its a great way to break people into new mmos for people who dont like how aged and rote WOW is
I see a lot of "capped players" content, but not a damn thing to make me want to return to cap my player. Players will always leave no matter how much content you add, for an MMO to survive you need to get back players (and entice new players) who thought your product sucked before they even got far into the game. If they give me no reason to come back I will never set foot in this game again.
It truly baffles me how this mmo ever got into being- how can people still pay for this trash combat?
I mean...its probably one of the worst, boring combat designs ive ever played in an MMO
I played WS at launch and dont tell me it has changed because it hasnt...its disgusting that people pay for such low quality...heck Id rather even sit and play ESO than this yawn-aoe-fixated "combat" ugh.
Hmmmm. ESO combat has action base element (aka face the mob or miss), block, dodge telegraphs, sprint.
Wildstar has also action combat, interrupt (window of opportunity for extra damage), dodge telegraphs, sprint.
Is me or do they sound similar on paper. The big difference is that while on ESO world trash is ultra easy and unless you go insane and place points everywhere, you will have a descent single job build by level 10. In Wildstar, well reaching level 10 only grant you 4 moves out of 8, and 4 amp points out of 55.
And telegraphs, last time I checked ESO mobs have it, FFXIV mobs have it, Crowfall that is under development have it, and practically all MMOs have it in certain fights (WoW Murmur encounter). Where do you thing the get out of red comes from, or WoW add-ons like GTFO got coded in the first place. The difference is that Wildstar made them a standard mechanic. But it has been there in MMOs for ages. And how many times do I have to say you can turn all telegraph off if you want. Do I have to repost here again the comparative picture I placed in another thread.
To be fair the main difference is that in TESO you can block and control directly your attacks with your mouse, like you do in SP action-rpgs (TES games, the witcher, etc). That, together with the mouse-look control make it feel more action oriented than Wildstar. A lot of people that try or just see WS think it's a tab-target hotbar based game

To be fair, the game isn'rt booming with players but in the last few weeks seems better (PVE servers ofc).
Myself, I tried the OB and thought that it was crap, then I tried again a few weeks ago on a friend's request and I ended up buying the game.
It has improved a lot from the mess that it was at launch

If that's true, then why you have skills mapped to 1-5, and weapon swap mapped to Ctrl. Like I said the only differences are: a) easier and b) can get a descent build early. But last time I checked on any MMO on PC turning was faster if I do it with the mouse, and replace turn keybinds with stafe.
Because so you can have access to different skill setups on the fly and change your playstyle. I have to ask, what level did you get up to? I can guarantee that the "one build does it all" stops working pretty soon, at least for any instanced or group content
i think ill just continue to play a raiding mmo that actually releases raids once in a while.
LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity. I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already
im sorry but after that latest box stunt they killed any chance of getting me back because by me giving them money it's telling them hey it's ok to say fuck you to your fanbase and insult them with shitty ass cash grabs

Well, I do not want them them have anything bad happen to the game or company. In saying that, I still have this on my hd because I am waiting for b2p/f2p.

SWTOR started off with 3 raids with 5 added over 3 years.
Wildstar started off with 2 raid not even a year old.
You nailed it with such a BAMF statement!
Yep. Nevermind how many people have actually completed the second raid in WildStar.
